Highlander Set Photos & Video Unite Henry Cavill & Dave Bautista

New photos from the set of the upcoming Highlander reboot reveal what Henry Cavill and Dave Bautista will look like in the film. The pictures, taken during a nighttime shoot in London, suggest a dramatic showdown between their characters.

Highlander’s Henry Cavill and Dave Bautista appear in set photos

On the set of the new Highlander movie, photos have surfaced showing Henry Cavill playing Connor MacLeod and Dave Bautista as his enemy, The Kurgan.

Filming resumed at Westminster Abbey in London with Henry Cavill after he recovered from a calf injury that had temporarily paused production. Dave Bautista filmed scenes as the Kurgan late at night, fully dressed in a bloodied priest’s outfit and carrying a sword.

The movie follows Connor MacLeod, an immortal warrior who died centuries ago in Scotland and now lives a peaceful life in the present day. But his quiet existence is shattered when Kurgan, a cruel and dangerous immortal, reappears, forcing Connor to rejoin an ancient battle. Kurgan, played by Clancy Brown in the original 1986 film, came from a barbaric tribe known for their horrific acts – they would throw children into pits of starving dogs as a form of amusement.

Henry Cavill was dressed in a leather jacket, dark hoodie, and combat trousers, with the hoodie left open to show his chest. Makeup artists made him look bruised, as if he’d just been in a fight. Dave Bautista played the villain, sporting long, slicked-back hair and a full, thick beard while wielding a sword.

For one stunt, the filmmakers lifted Henry Cavill and Dave Bautista with wires above a car while Siobhan Cullen – or her stunt performer – sped underneath on a motorcycle.

The filming continued late into the night, and both actors did their own stunt work with wires for a particularly exciting scene. Even though their characters are rivals on screen, Henry Cavill and Dave Bautista were able to share some laughs between takes. Cavill previously teased at CinemaCon 2024 that audiences hadn’t seen the extent of his sword fighting skills yet, according to IGN.

The new film features Henry Cavill, Dave Bautista, Russell Crowe, Marisa Abela, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, Max Zhang, and Drew McIntyre. Chad Stahelski is directing, with a screenplay by Kerry Williamson and Mike Finch, and filming is currently underway.
