Many gamers are hoping to receive a Nintendo Switch 2 this holiday season. Although it’s a brand new console and still has a limited number of games available, the Switch 2 has already sold well. As we look ahead to 2026, more new games are expected to be released for the console, and now a popular life simulation RPG is confirmed to be coming to the Switch family of systems as well.
I’ve been super excited about Starsand Island ever since I first heard about it back in May! They haven’t given us a definite release date yet, but they’re aiming for early 2026. It started as a PC game, but the developers have been slowly letting us know it’s coming to other platforms. And now, the best news ever: Seed Lab just announced Starsand Island will have a Switch 2 version right when the game launches! They also dropped a new gameplay trailer, and it looks amazing – it’s a 3D life sim that I can’t wait to play.
Stardew Valley Competitor Starsand Island Confirms Switch 2 Edition & New Gameplay Details

Starsand Island is a new role-playing and life simulation game taking place on a gorgeous island inspired by Asia. Players can build and manage their own farm, growing crops and raising animals, as well as fish and explore the island. You can get around on horseback or even by skateboarding! The game also features the relationship-building you’d expect from a life sim, plus exciting RPG elements. Players will be able to explore ancient ruins and battle unique creatures, mastering various combat skills that offer a deeper combat system than games like Stardew Valley.
Last month, a few players unexpectedly gained access to Starsand Island through an early release on the PlayStation Store. The issue was quickly fixed, but it gave some a preview of the eagerly awaited life simulation and RPG game. Despite this leak, fans are still eager to learn more, and a new gameplay trailer now provides a detailed look at the game’s seasonal farming mechanics.
The new trailer showcases the game’s beautiful 3D graphics, which have a distinct anime style. It gives players a good look at how the game world changes with the seasons – from vibrant summer landscapes to colorful autumns and snowy winters. The trailer also confirms a building mode similar to the one in The Sims 4, allowing players to create custom structures.
Okay, so everyone’s been saying Starsand Island is like Stardew Valley, which makes sense since it’s a farming sim. But honestly, I think the 3D graphics are going to be a big draw for a lot of us cozy game fans – it just looks gorgeous. It was already coming to Switch, but I was a little worried about how those graphics would run. Now that they’ve confirmed a version specifically for the Switch 2, I’m pretty confident it’s going to look as amazing as we see in the trailer. That’s a huge relief!
Seed Lab hasn’t shared details about other changes coming in the Switch 2 version yet. The latest trailer simply asks fans to watch for future announcements, as the game is planned for release on all platforms in early 2026.
