Hilaria Baldwin tried her best to dance her way to the top.
After being eliminated from Dancing With the Stars on October 7th – making them the fourth couple to leave the competition – 41-year-old Chrishell still thinks the way viewers vote could be improved.
She explained in an interview with TopMob News that voters sometimes coordinate to support all candidates except the ones they dislike. This boosts the votes of other candidates, effectively minimizing the chances of the unwanted pair winning.
However, Hilaria conceded she was warned that the show is about much more than one’s dancing skill.
Hilaria explained that producers constantly emphasized it was a reality show, not a true dance competition. She admitted that while she expected some drama and negativity, it stung a bit because her main goal was simply to enjoy dancing.
Being separated from her husband, Alec Baldwin, and their seven children—Carmen, 12, Rafael, 10, Leonardo, 9, Romeo, 7, Eduardo, 5, María, 4, and Ilaria, 2—was also difficult for her.
“As much as my kids were really supportive,” she added, “seeing them miss me was painful.”
Even though things were difficult and the show eventually ended for her, Hilaria has no regrets about her time dancing in the ballroom.
She described the show as really enjoyable and expressed her gratitude for being a part of it. She emphasized that she had fun throughout the entire experience and that it’s natural not to feel down when things are going well – you don’t usually feel sad when you’re having a good time.
Hilaria admitted there are serious issues facing the world, but playfully pointed out that her departure from the show wasn’t one of them. She shared that she’d spoken with others who were relieved to leave, but her own experience was positive. She genuinely enjoyed her time on the show.
Even though she was concerned about disrupting her children’s lives and was ultimately eliminated from the competition, Hilaria appreciated her oldest daughter Carmen’s encouragement to focus on the fact that she gave it her best shot. She also hopes her experience on the show taught her children valuable life lessons.
She believes important lessons include being resilient, supporting one another through challenges, and pursuing what you love. She wants her kids to learn to stay true to themselves, ignore negativity, and keep going even when things get tough. She acknowledges setbacks happen, but emphasizes the importance of getting back up and persevering.
