And lately, I’ve been so impressed with the incredible crime dramas being made. From the British series Dept. Q to miniseries like Adolescence and The Beast in Me, the quality has been consistently high. I was really excited about Netflix’s new release, His & Hers, and it seems like they’ve finally addressed one of my biggest complaints about their shows – it’s not too long, and the episode count feels just right!

But Netflix’s His & Hers, based on the Alice Feeney novel, absolutely nails it – it’s perfectly paced, with just the right amount of mystery and suspense to keep me completely invested.

What Is His & Hers About?

His & Hers follows Anna, a news anchor in Atlanta, who returns from leave to find someone else has taken her job. Determined to get back on air, she proposes covering a murder investigation happening in her hometown of Dahlonega as a field reporter.

The investigation isn’t straightforward, though, because Anna has personal ties to the town and its people. Adding to the complexity, the lead detective is Anna’s soon-to-be ex-husband, Jack Harper, and he appears to be keeping things from everyone. His & Hers is a gripping story packed with surprising twists, shocking discoveries, and hidden secrets that constantly change the direction of the narrative.

Miniseries vary in length – some have just a few episodes, while others, like the 2021 series Maid, have ten. His & Hers strikes a good balance with six short, under-30-minute episodes, making it easy to watch the whole series in an afternoon.

The Netflix miniseries His & Hers is a captivating mystery that keeps viewers engaged. Its strong cast is a major reason why it’s so enjoyable to watch, especially Tessa Thompson, who’s known for playing Valkyrie in the Marvel movies, as Anna, a news anchor working through a difficult time after a tragedy.

Jon Bernthal, known for his roles in shows like The Walking Dead, The Punisher, and the HBO miniseries We Own This City, plays Jack Harper, Anna’s husband and a lead detective. Pablo Schreiber, recognizable from his previous work, plays Richard Jones, a cameraman who is married to Lexy, the woman who replaced Anna as a news anchor.

The show His & Hers features excellent performances from Zoe (Jack’s sister), Sunita Mani from GLOW as detective Priya Patel, and Rebecca Rittenhouse from Once Upon a Time in Hollywood as Lexy, the news anchor who temporarily filled in for Anna. Boasting a talented cast and a concise length, His & Hers is a great choice for a crime thriller on Netflix.
