Yuto Suzuki’s popular manga, Sakamoto Days, which appears in Weekly Shonen Jump, launched in November 2020 and quickly became known as one of the best action-comedy series around. Even before the anime adaptation came out, the manga had a large and dedicated fanbase, creating a lot of excitement. The anime premiered on Netflix and was a success, but a second season hasn’t been announced yet. The first season was released in two parts – the first in January and the second in July. Typically, popular shows announce a continuation soon after a season ends, and fans are now concerned about the future of the Sakamoto Days anime because of the delay.
The reason for the delay in announcing the future of the anime is likely due to production issues, but nothing is certain until an official statement is made. Currently, the anime has only covered the first part of a major storyline, adapting 74 chapters of the manga. Meanwhile, fans are preparing for the manga to end after five years of weekly releases. Although the exact date isn’t known, the manga entered its final arc in July 2025. As the story nears its conclusion, the creators of Sakamoto Days are celebrating the series’ 5th anniversary with some exciting news, and one announcement in particular has everyone talking.
Sakamoto Days Is Teasing a Mysterious Project For Its 5th Anniversary

Shueisha recently trademarked the title Sakamoto Days Mission: Rogue Dawn on November 20, 2025, as reported by X. While details about the project are still a mystery, it might be connected to the manga’s upcoming 5th anniversary. The title suggests something significant, though it doesn’t appear to be related to a potential second season of the anime. In addition to the trademark, a special fan poll is being held in Japan to celebrate the anniversary.
A trusted source on X (formerly Twitter), @WSJ_manga, reports that online voting for the Best Bout popularity poll will run until January 13, 2026. We can expect the results in Spring 2026, with a specific date to be announced later. The creator of the winning series will draw artwork of the top battles, and Shueisha will release a promotional video. Fans can also look forward to new LINE stickers, a collaboration with the parody manga Me & Robocco, and a Papercraft Pistol Appendix.
The best part of this anniversary is that Takehiko Inoue, the creator of Slam Dunk, is participating with a special interview and new artwork. You can watch the anime on Netflix, and read the manga on the Manga Plus app. Viz Media is also offering free manga reading on their Sakamoto Days website, where you can also buy physical and digital copies.
