Hitman 4 Teased by IO Interactive Boss

IO Interactive, the studio behind the Hitman series, has announced they’re starting to plan a new Hitman game, currently referred to as Hitman 4. This comes after continually updating and expanding Hitman 3 since its 2021 release. They’ve added all the levels from the original Hitman and Hitman 2 into Hitman: World of Assassination, and even created a full VR version called Hitman 3 VR: Reloaded. While they’ll continue to support World of Assassination with updates through 2026, a brand new Hitman game is definitely in the works.

In a recent interview with Variety, IO Interactive CEO Hakan Abrak casually revealed that a new Hitman game is in development. While the studio is currently prioritizing the addition of co-op gameplay to World of Assassination with an upcoming update, Abrak confirmed that work on Hitman 4 will begin once that feature is live, potentially leading to more announcements soon.

Abrak confirmed that more Hitman games are planned. He mentioned that updates on co-op mode are coming next year, which he believes will add exciting new gameplay to the World of Assassination. After that, the team will start discussing the next full Hitman title, assuring fans that another game is definitely in development.

While IO Interactive is likely already planning Hitman 4, it’s unclear when the game might be released. Currently, the studio’s main focus is on 007: First Light, a new James Bond game scheduled to launch in March 2026. This will be IO Interactive’s first game outside of the Hitman series since 2010’s Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days. They are also working on “Project Fantasy,” an online RPG that is still in the early stages of development.

IO Interactive has a lot on its plate right now, which likely means we won’t see Hitman 4 for several years. However, the fact that they’ve confirmed another Hitman game is exciting news for fans and gives them something to anticipate.
