With WB Games moving to Netflix, its popular game Hogwarts Legacy, developed by Avalanche Software, has achieved a significant milestone: selling over 40 million copies since its release in February 2023.
The game is available on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox One, PC, and both Nintendo Switch models. As of November 2024, it had sold over 30 million copies, and the recent release on the new Switch likely contributed to that number. You can read our review of the game here.
Warner Bros. has announced they’re making a sequel, calling it a major priority for the company. However, details are scarce, and it won’t be released for at least a couple of years. We don’t yet know what the story will be, what systems it will be on, or how the gameplay will be improved.
As of February 2025, Avalanche Software was reportedly developing a remastered version and expansion for Hogwarts Legacy. However, plans for these were allegedly cancelled in late March due to concerns that the new content didn’t justify the intended price.
