Since launching in 2023, Hogwarts Legacy has sold over 40 million copies, according to Warner Bros.
I was so excited to see the latest sales numbers for Hogwarts Legacy! As of March 2025, they’ve sold over 34 million copies – that’s another 6 million since the last update! What’s really amazing is that number only counts people who actually bought the game, not those playing it through services like PS Plus. It’s incredible to think how many people are enjoying it when you add those players in too!
Hogwarts Legacy’s official social media announced that the game has now sold 40 million copies, thanking players for their support.
As a huge Hogwarts Legacy fan, I’ve been following the news about a sequel, and it sounds like Avalanche Software is already working on it! There’s been some uncertainty though, since Netflix bought Warner Bros for a massive $82 billion. A year ago, Warner Bros said a follow-up game was a top priority, which was awesome to hear. But I also read that some planned extra content for the first game was unfortunately cancelled earlier this year – it never even got announced, which is a real shame. Hopefully, the Netflix deal won’t impact the sequel’s development!
You can find a detailed look at the game in our Hogwarts Legacy PS5 review, and our Hogwarts Legacy guide covers all the collectibles.
