Despite numerous Gamecom announcements making waves, it’s only fitting that Team Cherry’s “Hollow Knight: Silksong” grabbed attention by revealing its long-awaited release date. Not surprisingly, the team is already contemplating future projects.
When speaking with Bloomberg, co-director William Pellen expressed that launching their project was undeniably thrilling. However, he added that what lies ahead is equally captivating. The most intriguing aspect now, according to him, is determining what additional features they can incorporate. They have a strategy in place, albeit some of the strategies for these additions are somewhat ambitious, but he hopes they can realize some of their goals.
Some supporters might find this situation predictable given that Hollow Knight has been providing free updates and post-release DLC. However, for many others, there could be a sense of apprehension. This is because Silksong, initially planned as a paid expansion for the original game, eventually transformed into a standalone title. The future, as always, is uncertain; whether the studio’s plans will lead to another game similar to this pattern remains unclear, but it would be in line with past events. Whether history repeats itself or not, only time can tell.
