Hollow Knight has built a reputation for its challenging gameplay and cryptic storytelling, with players piecing together the narrative through subtle hints as they traverse a kingdom of fallen insects.

Hollow Knight: Silksong has had a long road to this point

Team Cherry’s journey towards completing Hollow Knight: Silksong has been a lengthy one, as the team, which was founded by just two individuals in 2014 and has only grown modestly since then, often went silent for extended periods of time.
Following the successful launch of the original Hollow Knight in 2017, the studio worked on several DLC packs. Initially, Hollow Knight: Silksong was intended to be one of these expansions, but it quickly expanded in scale until Team Cherry decided it would be more appropriate to release it as a standalone game.
In 2022, during the Xbox Games Showcase, the game was unveiled with new gameplay footage and the announcement that it would be accessible at launch through Xbox Game Pass.
Hollow Knight: Silksong is set to release on Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2. It will also be available from day one in Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass.
