Hollow Knight: Silksong, the highly praised game from Team Cherry, has reached a major milestone: over 7 million copies sold. This update on the game’s success comes as the year draws to a close, following its critically acclaimed release in September.
I was so excited to hear how many people are playing Silksong! Team Cherry said a ton of us are playing through Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass – they mentioned *millions* more! Since it was included with both of those subscriptions right away, it means the total number of adventurers exploring Pharloom is absolutely huge. It’s awesome to see so many people enjoying the game!
To mark this special occasion, the developers have revealed plans for the future. They’ve been creating new downloadable content, and the first major expansion is now confirmed to be in development.
I’m really excited about the new *Sea of Sorrow* expansion! It’s totally free and adds a bunch of cool stuff to the game – new areas to explore, challenging boss fights, and even some new tools. I just watched the teaser trailer, and it looks awesome – you can check it out below!
Details are limited, but the developers have announced the next expansion will have a nautical theme and is expected to release for everyone in 2026.
But there’s more good news! Besides continuing work on Silksong, Team Cherry is also improving the original Hollow Knight game with updates for all players.
This update includes several bug fixes and now supports 16:10 and 21:9 aspect ratios, making the game look great on Steam Deck and ultrawide monitors.
The latest update is currently being tested by players on Steam and GOG, and is expected to be released for everyone in 2026.
