Hollow Knight: Silksong Release Crashes Storefronts Like Steam, Not Even Live on PS Store

Update #2 [Thu 4th Sep 2025, 4pm]:

Hollow Knight: Silksong is gradually launching on more platforms such as PC, Switch 2, among others; but despite repeated attempts and system updates, it has yet to appear on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 an hour after the scheduled release time.

On Steam, there have been numerous issues (e502 l3 errors) causing the PC version of the game to frequently crash. Meanwhile, players on PS5 and PS4 can only view their wishlist for the game since it wasn’t offered for pre-order or pre-load. As a result, everyone on PlayStation platforms is rushing to purchase the game simultaneously.

Update #1 [Thu 4th Sep 2025, 3:15pm]:

Given the seven-year wait for Hollow Knight: Silksong, another half hour or so shouldn’t be too much, right? The anticipated sequel from Team Cherry was expected to go live at 3pm BST today, but as the hours have passed, it seems that every platform the game is set to release on has experienced a significant influx of users.

Currently, when you look up the game on the PlayStation Store, there are no results showing up. Previously, there was a ‘wishlist’ page for this game, however, it seems to have been removed now.

For PC users, Steam is experiencing some downtime, preventing purchases. Unfortunately, at this moment, it’s not available for purchase on Xbox either. On the Nintendo eShop, attempts to navigate through are being met with errors.

At long last, the eagerly anticipated sequel to Hollow Knight, titled Hollow Knight: Silksong, has been released! It’s now playable on a variety of platforms, including the PS5 and PS4.

Journeying as the lethal insect known as the Hornet, traverse an uncharted realm governed by silk and melodious songs! Caught in this alien world, get ready to face formidable adversaries and unravel long-lost secrets while climbing on a perilous journey towards the kingdom’s summit.

Seven years ago, Hollow Knight: Silksong was initially announced as a DLC for the first game. Over time, it evolved into a full sequel. Although there were long periods of silence and uncertainty about its release, it’s now officially happening. For updates on this development, you can check out our sister site, Nintendo Life.
