Hollywood’s Next Big Comic Book Movie Features a Star Wars Veteran

A well-known actor from Star Wars will transition to a new movie based on a renowned comic book series next year. Despite the declining box office performance of recent comic book adaptations such as “The Fantastic Four: First Steps,” studios haven’t given up on the genre entirely. There’s still optimism that a hidden gem can be discovered, and studios are looking to independent comics for potential finds. One of these critically acclaimed comics is being brought to life as a major film production with a big-name cast member attached.

Liam Neeson, known for his roles in movies like “Taken” and “Star Wars: The Phantom Menace,” is set to appear in a film based on the comic book series “4 Kids Walk Into A Bank,” written by Matthew Rosenberg and Tyler Boss. Originally published by Black Mask Studios, the story revolves around Danny, an ex-bank robber who values his teenage granddaughter Paige deeply. When he learns that his old gang is forcing him back into crime for one final job to settle a debt, Paige devises a plan: She persuades her three closest friends to pull off a bank heist the day before, so Danny won’t have to get involved.

Liam Neeson will portray Danny in the upcoming film “4 Kids Walk Into A Bank,” where Talia Ryder steps into the role of Paige, Whitney Peak is also part of the cast, along with Jack Dylan Grazer and Spike Fearn. Jim Sturgess, George Basil, and Sam Strike round out the main characters. Frankie Shaw is at the helm as director from a script co-written by Matt Robinson and herself. The movie “4 Kids Walk Into A Bank” is scheduled for release on April 17, 2026.

Matthew Rosenberg’s latest comic, titled “We’re Taking Everyone Down with Us“, will be released as a standalone graphic novel this winter by Image Comics. This thrilling story is often compared to a fusion of James Bond and The Island of Doctor Moreau. The narrative revolves around a young girl who uncovers the shocking truth about her father: he’s not the hero she thought he was, but rather one of the world’s most perilous super-spy villains.

Following the death of her eccentric scientist father at the hands of the world’s top secret agent, 13-year-old Annalise finds herself alone in the world, with her deceased father’s robot bodyguard as her only companion. Now, Annalise faces a significant decision: either embrace a normal life for the first time…or pursue vengeance and potentially disrupt the current global order.

ComicBook awarded “We’re Taking Everyone Down with Us” 4 out of 5 stars, describing it as “an intriguing concept presented within a larger-than-usual comic issue.” They found much to appreciate, and readers should be left eager for more. The graphic novel is set to release on November 26th at physical bookstores and digital platforms. You can get a sneak peek of the books in the link provided below.
