Horror Game Series That Hasn’t Been Seen Since 2010 Teased to Return

As a huge horror fan, I’m getting really excited! It looks like a classic series that we last saw on Xbox 360 and PS3 way back in 2010 might be coming back. And honestly, this generation of consoles has been amazing for horror games already. We’ve had incredible remakes like Dead Space, Silent Hill 2, and Resident Evil 4, plus totally new titles like Alan Wake 2 and Cronos: The New Dawn. Now, one executive just hinted that another well-known horror series, based on a popular movie franchise, is about to join the fun!

Lionsgate recently announced that a new, high-quality video game based on the “Saw” franchise is coming soon. While most people know “Saw” as a series of movies that started in 2004, there have been a few games based on the films as well. A “Saw” game released in 2009 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 gained a cult following despite mixed reviews. A sequel, “Saw 2: Flesh and Blood,” came out in 2010, but it wasn’t well-received, and no further “Saw” games were made. Now, Lionsgate is looking to return to gaming with the franchise, though details are still unclear.

New Saw Game Details Remain Shrouded in Mystery

It’s exciting news that more Saw games are being made, but details about the new installment are still scarce. Previously, the Saw games were created by Zombie Games (which no longer exists) and published by Konami. It’s unclear if Konami will be involved this time, though it’s possible another publisher could work with Lionsgate. Given that Blumhouse now co-owns the Saw franchise and launched its own video game publishing division in 2023, they seem like the most likely candidate to lead development on this project.

Currently, there are no confirmed plans for a new Saw movie. Although another film could happen eventually, it looks like the recently announced video game will be the next installment of horror for fans of the series.
