You might have been seeing some buzz about the game Iron Lung recently. This is mostly thanks to a new movie based on the game that’s been very successful in theaters.
The movie, led by popular YouTuber Markiplier (Mark Fischbach), has drawn a lot of attention to the game, and PlayStation appears to have noticed the increased excitement.
The launch trailer for Iron Lung on PS5 just dropped on YouTube, but here’s a surprise: the game has actually been available to purchase on the PlayStation Store since October 16th, 2025.
It seems the movie’s popularity is the reason the game’s trailer, which was originally scheduled for release three months ago, is just now being launched.
The game is a brief, first-person horror experience where you pilot a simple, one-person submarine. Your mission is to investigate a newly discovered ocean of blood located on an alien moon.
You control the submarine and navigate the ocean, but you’re essentially flying blind. You only have a partial map and a simple camera to take pictures and help you figure out where you are.
I’m really getting into this game! It’s not just about avoiding crashes, though. You have to complete missions using only the camera, the map, and your own ability to figure out where you’re going – it’s a surprisingly clever way to play!
When this game first came out on PC in 2022, it didn’t get a ton of attention from reviewers. But honestly, the people who did play it absolutely loved it. It’s seriously creepy, with a really intense atmosphere and it builds the horror slowly, which makes it even more effective. It’s a hidden gem!
Just a heads-up: Iron Lung has actually been available on PS5 for several months, even though you might have just seen a new trailer making it seem like a recent release.
