House of the Dragon favourite stars in glamorous first look at all-new BBC drama from acclaimed writer

Following the popularity of her series Mood, Nicôle Lecky returns with a new drama, Wild Cherry, which promises to be just as captivating and complex as her previous work.

Lecky not only developed and wrote the series, but she also plays a character named Gigi – a Richford Lake resident who gets caught up in the central drama surrounding the show’s mothers and daughters.

The show centers on Juliet, played by Eve Best, and Lorna, played by Carmen Ejogo, two accomplished mothers who are stunned when their daughters become caught up in a major issue at school.

We just got our first glimpse of the new series, Wild Cherry, with the release of its official trailer, and it looks incredibly binge-worthy!

The series will officially premiere on BBC One and iPlayer on Sunday, November 15th, and a trailer has also been released.

The trailer begins with Gigi, a character from Lecky’s story, telling us about the idyllic lives people once had in this town. It was a privileged world, but beneath the surface, everyone in Richford Lake was keeping secrets.

The series offers glimpses into the luxurious lifestyles of its characters, showing Juliet during a photoshoot, Grace and Allegra bonding at their exclusive school, and both of them attending glamorous parties in opulent settings.

Then things took a really unsettling turn. Allegra lets slip to a boy that there’s this secret app everyone at school is using, and it quickly gets much worse. Apparently, students are paying to be popular on it, posting increasingly suggestive photos just to get likes and comments – it’s pretty disturbing, honestly.

Things are already super awkward between the families – you can just feel the tension at that dinner party! But then it gets really scary when we find out one of Grace and Allegra’s friends has disappeared, and the police are now involved in trying to figure out what happened.

Seeing mugshots of both Grace and Allegra displayed on a police board raises questions about their involvement. Meanwhile, the existing friction between Juliet and Lorna escalates, culminating in Lorna sharply telling Juliet not to interfere with her parenting.

Okay, so the scene opens with Juliet, Allegra, Lorna, and Grace all looking intense in a mirror, and a voiceover says something about nobody knowing what they were capable of until it was too late. It definitely feels like something bad has just happened, or is about to. Honestly, it’s a classic setup, and I’m already hooked – I need to know what they’ve done (or are planning to do!).

Wild Cherry centers around Juliet and Lorna, two seemingly perfect women whose lives are disrupted when their teenage daughters, Grace and Allegra, are caught up in a scandal at their private school. As the truth unfolds, long-hidden secrets and lies begin to surface, shaking up their close-knit community.

This drama explores the complicated relationships between mothers and daughters as they deal with issues of wealth, influence, and the pressures of social media. The saying ‘like mother, like daughter’ takes on new meaning in a world full of hidden dangers and betrayals, even in seemingly perfect communities.
