How Dax Shepard Wants to Help Daughter Delta Start Her Future Family

Dax Shepard recently revealed he offered to pay for his 11-year-old daughter, Delta Shepard, to freeze her eggs when she turns 18. He shares Delta with his wife, Kristen Bell.

During the January 5th episode of his podcast, Armchair Expert, Dax, 51, shared that his partner expressed a desire to have a baby. He recounted playfully asking her when she envisioned having children, joking about waiting until she was 18. He emphasized his intention to be supportive and avoid any judgment. She then asked for his genuine thoughts, and he responded that he estimated she would have kids sometime between the ages of 35 and 45.

He explained that he offered to pay for his daughter to freeze her eggs when she turned eighteen, saying he wanted to remove the pressure of having to consider it later.

Dax’s cohost, Monica Padman, 38, called his actions “lovely,” but Dax – who also has a 12-year-old daughter, Lincoln, with actor Kristen Bell – said Delta didn’t appreciate his guess about her age.

He jokingly remembered her saying it was a ridiculous idea and way too mature. He explained that, considering she was only eleven years old, anything in her mind beyond that age seemed incredibly old – she was imagining someone in their mid-twenties.

Dax and Kristen’s children have asked about becoming parents before. Kristen, known for her role in Frozen, shared that they’ve even attempted to explain the process of having a baby to them.

A child once asked us about how babies are made, and Dax began to explain the process, but the child quickly lost interest and walked away after about 30 seconds,” the 45-year-old shared with TopMob News in June 2024. “Honestly, it was a good thing! We’ve decided to continue handling questions this way as long as it keeps things simple.”

Kristen shared that she and Dax made a promise to always be honest with their daughters about important subjects. They’ve always been open and honest about their 12-year marriage, and they want their daughters to understand the value of honesty, even when it’s uncomfortable.

Parenting is mentally exhausting,” Kristen admitted, describing her and Dax’s approach. “You’re constantly deciding what information is suitable for their age, what won’t frighten them, but still offers a little challenge. It’s a lot of on-the-spot judgment, and it’s definitely tough.”
