“It’s the little things that matter the most.”
This isn’t a profound message – it’s simply about adjusting the volume on your Windows 11 computer. It’s something I do all the time, and I recently discovered a surprisingly helpful shortcut.
You can easily adjust the volume in Windows 11 directly from the taskbar – you don’t even need to click! No need to use buttons on your keyboard, headphones, or speakers.
Just scroll
I just learned that you can scroll on the volume icon to adjust the volume on accident. from r/Windows11
I learned from a Reddit discussion that you can easily adjust the volume in Windows 11 by just scrolling over the volume icon in the taskbar.
It seems I wasn’t the only one surprised to find this! I’ve already seen at least three of us on Reddit discussing it. Honestly, even though Windows 11 25H2 doesn’t have any exciting new features, discovering this has really brightened my day.
Honestly, this is a feature I’m really excited about because I swap between keyboards *all* the time. Some have physical dials, and most have function keys for volume, but I just never seem to build up the muscle memory to use them effectively. I always end up fumbling around, clicking and dragging the on-screen volume slider when it’s totally unnecessary!
No longer, though!
It feels a bit embarrassing that I’m only now finding out about this, especially since Microsoft’s Jen Gentleman mentioned it was actually included with the Windows 11 22H2 update quite a while ago.
I can’t believe it took me this long to realize I could adjust the volume by simply clicking on the icon! I’ve been doing it the hard way all this time!
Discovering this little feature really got me thinking – what other hidden gems are tucked away in Windows 11? I’m a big fan of those small, everyday improvements that just make things smoother, and I’m always on the lookout for them.
Now, I’d love to hear from you, our Windows Central readers! If you know of any other small but incredibly helpful features that I might have overlooked, please share them in the comments below!
