After the first Five Nights at Freddy’s movie came out in 2023, many people believed a film adaptation of the games had already missed its chance. However, despite being released both in theaters and on Peacock streaming, the movie surprisingly earned almost $300 million worldwide. This made it Jason Blum’s most successful horror film ever and guaranteed a sequel. Now, two years later, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 is here, continuing the story from the first film and setting the stage for future installments.
As a longtime follower of the Five Nights at Freddy’s universe, I wasn’t shocked to see how much planning Scott Cawthon has done. The games are famously complex, with a story that’s unfolded across multiple games, comics, and books. There’s tons of source material for future films, and after seeing Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, I have a really good idea of where they’re planning to take things next. It’s clear this franchise is playing the long game.
Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 Credit Scene Teases What’s Next

As the movie Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 ends, two clues hint at what will happen in the next installment. The main characters manage to survive Charlotte’s ghostly revenge after defeating her “Toy” animatronics with help from the spirits of the original animatronics. This heroic act drains the spirits’ remaining connection to the world, and Garrett’s spirit realizes they can no longer contain him. Simultaneously, just before the screen goes black, Charlotte, also known as the Marionette, creeps down the hallway and possesses Vanessa.
After the credits, a group of friends sneak into the abandoned Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, which is about to be demolished. They’re collecting props for a haunted house and stumble upon a hidden room. Inside, they find a very special item: one of the original animatronic suits. Longtime fans will immediately recognize it as the suit William Afton wore in the first movie – the one that ultimately trapped and killed him. As the scene closes, the suit’s eyes begin to glow, hinting at a similar storyline to the video game Five Nights at Freddy’s 3.
At the very end of the credits for Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, you can hear a phone call where Skeet Ulrich’s character tries to warn Mike about something dangerous. He reveals himself as Henry Emily, William Afton’s former business partner – a fact the movie didn’t mention earlier. He urgently tells Mike that Charlotte is still present and will be coming after him, but the call cuts off with a scream, showing her vengeful spirit still exists.
Another Animatronic Confirmed Plans for Five Nights at Freddy’s 4

While the movie Five Nights at Freddy’s 3’s plot becomes fairly predictable, an earlier scene hints at future storylines. During a dream sequence, Vanessa explores her childhood home and discovers her father’s workshop, filled with plans and early versions of the animatronics. Hidden behind a shelf, she unexpectedly finds a fully built animatronic named Baby Doll, suggesting a continuation beyond this film.
Fans of the Five Nights at Freddy’s games will instantly recognize this scary robot as a key character from Five Nights at Freddy’s: Sister Location. This is the first time the Five Nights at Freddy’s movies have suggested this part of the FNAF story, and it seems to be building towards something bigger. Given how the second movie sets up events for Five Nights at Freddy’s 3, it’s possible Baby Doll and the robots from Sister Location could show up in a future movie—perhaps the fourth one, or even a separate spin-off. However, this isn’t confirmed, and there are currently no announced plans for a third movie.
