Season 2 of *Gen V* is now available on Prime Video, but its release is overshadowed by the heartbreaking loss of Chance Perdomo. The 27-year-old actor tragically died in a motorcycle accident in March 2024 while traveling to film the new season. This is a devastating loss for his loved ones and fans alike. Perdomo was a talented and charismatic rising star, known for his roles in shows like *The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina* and *Gen V*, and had a promising future ahead of him.
Following the tragic passing of actor Chance Perdomo, the creators of *Gen V* chose not to replace his character, Andre Anderson. Instead, they wrote him out of the show. The first episode of Season 2 begins with a dedication to Perdomo, and later reveals that Andre died at Elmira, the prison where he and fellow characters Marie Moreau, Jordan Li, and Emma Meyer were held at the end of Season 1. The series addresses Andre’s death directly, using his story to explore themes of grief and pay tribute to Perdomo throughout the season. (Please be aware that this contains spoilers for the first three episodes of Gen V Season 2.)
Gen V Season 2 Gives Andre A Hero’s Death
Andre died in *Gen V* while trying to help himself and his friends escape. After Marie successfully fled Elmira, the rest of the group tried to break out too. The only exit was a heavy steel door, and Andre used his magnetic powers to try and force it open. He pushed himself too hard, which caused a stroke and ultimately led to his death.
Season 2 of *Gen V* shows that Andre was aware of the danger of overusing his powers. Like his father, Polarity, he has a condition causing brain damage each time he uses his abilities – the more he uses them, the worse the damage becomes. Dean Cipher explains to Marie that Andre understood the risk of trying to move the door, but he did it anyway to save those he cared about, ultimately creating a heroic and tragic legacy.
Much of *Gen V* Season 2 revolves around the impact of Andre’s death and the loss of the actor who played him. The show consistently acknowledges his memory without revealing later plot points. It realistically portrays grief, showing not only the pain and anger, but also the fond memories and moments of joy. Andre’s influence is central to the development of several characters – especially Polarity, who has a larger role this season – and his absence motivates them to keep going. While the loss of the actor is irreplaceable and incredibly difficult to address, the show handles his death with sensitivity, respect, and in a way that celebrates his contribution.
Gen V Season 2, Episodes 1-3 are now streaming on Prime Video.
