How Gilmore Girls’ Alexis Bledel, Lauren Graham Took “Fall Hostage”

Alexis Bledel and Lauren Graham, who famously played mother and daughter on *Gilmore Girls*, reunited at the 2025 Emmy Awards on September 14th. They presented the award for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series to *The Studio*. (You can find a complete list of winners here.)

Lauren, 48, started by saying that when Gilmore Girls first aired 25 years ago, it quickly became synonymous with autumn – and seemed to take over the entire season!

Alexis, 43, explained that despite the show’s popularity, *Gilmore Girls* was actually quite a small production. Lauren then playfully added that this meant they didn’t have a large budget.

Oh my gosh, it was *amazing* being near the set of *The Drew Carey Show*! Seriously, if they had any leftover cake from a birthday party – and they often did – they’d send it over to *us*! It was the best. We’d literally walk around Burbank, just totally geeking out and saying, ‘Can you believe how much this looks like Connecticut?’ It was so random, but we loved it!

Although Alexis playfully claimed the cast was mistreated and underfed throughout the show’s seven seasons, Lauren pointed out that they at least had well-written scripts to work with.

Alexis joked about the scripts being incredibly long. Then, she announced the nominees for the award for Outstanding Writing in a Comedy Series, adding that she wanted to share both information and a laugh.

At the 77th annual event, the actress from *The Handmaid’s Tale* wore a silver strapless dress. Lauren, on the other hand, chose a black lace gown.

Alexis and Lauren are reuniting on stage almost ten years after their last appearance together in 2017. They previously spoke on a panel at Deadline’s The Contenders Emmys event about the original *Gilmore Girls* series and its continuation, *Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life*.

Even though Lauren and Alexis haven’t been seen together publicly for a few years, their friendship remains strong. Lauren especially appreciates that Alexis brings a calming influence to their relationship, which has lasted for 25 years.

We connected instantly, which was really fortunate,” she shared on the *Call Her Daddy* podcast in April. “We just had immediate chemistry.

The actor, 58, explained that they have very different personalities. He described the other person as being more reserved and quiet, which he felt created a good balance-something you wouldn’t get if both people were equally outgoing. He simply said he really enjoyed being with her.

Alexis was only 19 years old when the show’s pilot was filmed in 2000, and she was really impressed by Lauren, who was 33 at the time.

She remembered telling *Glamour* in 2016 that the actress had a natural stage presence – poise, confidence, and a lot of energy. It was something new for her to witness, and she admitted she wasn’t quite sure how to react, feeling a little overwhelmed by it all.
