How Hamnet’s Chloe Zhao, Jessie Buckley Celebrated Golden Globes Wins

Ain’t no party like a Hamnet dance party.

Jessie Buckley and director Chloe Zhao had a fantastic night at the 2026 Golden Globes, celebrating their wins for the film Hamnet. Jessie won Best Actress in a Drama, and the movie itself was named Best Picture (Drama). They marked the occasion with a memorable dance party featuring music by ABBA! (You can find a complete list of winners here.)

The pair, both looking stunning in baby blue silk dresses, celebrated their win at the Golden Globes with a lively performance of “Dancing Queen” at the after-party. A video of their fun moment was shared on social media by Gold Derby.

In the video, Jessie is dancing on top of a booth while people sit around a table. Nearby, Chloe is dancing while wearing noise-cancelling headphones. They eventually sit down together in the booth and playfully point at each other as they keep dancing.

Earlier, the director shared how much the award meant to her, and she also relayed some thoughtful advice from Paul Mescal, a fellow actor in the film, about the life of an artist.

Oh my gosh, he actually said this! Apparently, working on Hamnet totally changed how he thinks about being an artist. He realized it’s all about letting go and just… being real. Like, truly vulnerable, showing the world exactly who you are right now, who you’re striving to be, and giving everything you have, even the messy, imperfect parts. He said it’s so people can see themselves in your work, and maybe, just maybe, learn to accept all of themselves too. It’s just… beautiful, honestly. I’m completely obsessed!

The 43-year-old also made sure to recognize her fellow directors.

She gestured around the room, saying, “It’s amazing to see so many people I’ve known for years, especially my fellow nominees. I’m looking at you, Ryan Coogler, and all of you.”

It’s wonderful to see how many of you have grown both stronger and more compassionate, and how generously you’ve shared your work with the world,ā€ she said. ā€œI admire your courage and commitment. Let’s continue to support each other, keeping our hearts and minds open, and allowing ourselves to be vulnerable and seen.
