How Kaia Gerber Felt Seeing Nude Photos of Mom Cindy Crawford at Home

Kaia Gerber is showing love to her greatest muse. 

Kaia Gerber, the actor from Palm Royale, explained that growing up and seeing her mother, Cindy Crawford’s, famous photoshoots – even the nude ones – helped her understand the importance of loving your body at a young age.

Kaia, 24, recently told Harper’s Bazaar that she found the imagery artistic and not exploitative. She explained that growing up in a household that openly celebrated the female body was a positive experience.

But Cindy, 59, also positively influenced her daughter in another way. When Cindy began modeling as a teenager, she remembers her mother intentionally avoiding overprotecting her, wanting her to develop her own confidence and perspective in the industry.

Kaia said her friend doesn’t offer advice unless you specifically ask for it. But if you do ask, be prepared for a very honest answer – sometimes brutally so. She’s usually right, which can be frustrating, but she’s also happy to let you repeat mistakes she made herself decades ago.

Cindy Crawford, who shares 26-year-old son Presley with her husband Rande Gerber, has admitted she regrets some of the things she did while being filmed for television.

She admitted to posing for nude photos on many occasions, but told Town & Country magazine in May 2018 that she only regretted the ones where she felt pressured. She explained that she wants her children to feel empowered to set boundaries and not repeat her mistakes, saying she hopes they’ll never look back and wish she’d made different choices.

The actress, known for Fair Game, shared at the time that she naturally worried about her two children entering the fashion industry. However, she also pointed out that they have an advantage because of her established name. She made it clear that she would fiercely protect them if anyone tried to take advantage of them.

Kaia is grateful for all her mom’s modeling advice, but two things stand out as particularly important. In a 2017 essay for Glamour, she explained that her mom taught her to convey emotion through her poses—to genuinely feel what she was portraying. This has been incredibly helpful during photoshoots. Her mom also emphasized the importance of professionalism: being on time, and treating everyone with kindness.

She realized that true beauty isn’t simply about how someone looks, but also about the way they carry themselves and interact with others.

My mom always says ‘less is more’ when it comes to beauty. She believes true beauty comes from within, from how someone carries themselves, rather than from elaborate hairstyles or makeup, and that’s something I’ve really taken to heart.

In 2016, a mother and daughter dressed as rock stars for Halloween, and they looked so much alike it was difficult to distinguish who was who.

Gerber looks like the spitting image of her mother in this black sleek dress.

We know they are wearing matching robes, but even if they weren’t they’d still look like twins.

What’s better than a jumpsuit? Wearing matching jumpsuits while relaxing with your BFF, obviously. 

Gerber and Crawford both opt for leather jackets when in NYC and we love their style.

Okay, I know it sounds crazy, but seeing them both with that same breed of dog just hits different, you know? And honestly, when I look at this picture, I see so many little things they have in common – it’s like, the universe is telling me they’re meant to be! I can’t explain it, it’s just… there!

Matching outfits don’t always mean wearing the same colors! Back in 2015, Gerber and her mom showed this perfectly. Gerber wore a black leather jacket with blue jeans, and her mom wore a white leather jacket with dark-wash jeans – different, yet coordinated.

As early as 2014, it was noticeable that Gerber was beginning to dress like her mother, wearing a patterned outfit similar to one her mom had famously worn to the same event.
