How Lala Kent Really Feels About Vanderpump Rules’ Newly Rebooted Cast

Lala Kent is raising a glass to a new era of Vanderpump Rules.

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve been following the buzz around the new season of the show, and let me tell you, I’m spilling the tea! After Bravo announced they’re shaking things up with a completely fresh cast – all my former employees, actually – I’m finally sharing my honest reaction to this surprising reboot. It’s definitely a new chapter, and I have a lot of thoughts!

Lala admitted she doesn’t know anyone involved in the new show, but told TopMob News’ Francesca Amiker she’s happy for the cast. Promoting her iHeartPodcast, *Untraditionally Lala*, she shared that she remembers how exciting it was to first appear on TV and believes this new show will be great.

The 35-year-old has been told that the new cast members are naturally good at creating on-screen drama.

Lala explained that reality TV can’t be taught. ‘You can always spot someone trying to recreate famous reality TV moments,’ she said. She’s heard the current cast is genuinely themselves, and that they’re not overly self-aware, which she thinks is great.

The mom of daughters Ocean, age 4, and Sosa, 13 months, explained that for reality TV, it’s best if the kids don’t realize they’re being filmed, and she’s been told that’s how things are going on set.

Although Lala won’t be appearing in the next season of *Vanderpump Rules*, fans can still catch her on the third season of the Bravo series *The Valley*.

She hinted that being back on set feels quite different than she expected. She playfully admitted that she thought returning to reality TV would be easy, like an automatic skill, but it’s proving more challenging. She explained she’s felt isolated for the past two years and is now questioning how to navigate things.

I haven’t spoken to James directly, but I talk to Schwartz frequently. He stays in touch with many of the original Vanderpump Rules cast members, and from what he tells me, James is doing well.

That’s really good to hear

Oh my gosh, you guys, Lala is just *killing* it! She’s started this amazing new podcast called *Untraditionally Lala*, and it’s so real. It’s all about her life now, being a super-mom to Ocean and Phoenix after everything that happened. It’s like, she’s totally owning this new chapter, and I’m obsessed with hearing all about it!

She reflected on her life, realizing it hadn’t turned out as she expected. However, despite limited options in many ways, she found she actually had a lot of control. She was able to decide what she wanted – including having more children. So, she chose to use a sperm donor and welcomed a beautiful child uniquely her own.

“I’m happy and fulfilled,” Lala added, “and I didn’t think I’d ever feel that way.”

The whole story of these shows actually started with a scandal: Scheana Shay’s affair with married actor Eddie Cibrian. At the time, Eddie was married to Brandi Glanville from *The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills*, and Scheana began dating him while Brandi was pregnant with their second child. Their explosive confrontation at SUR, orchestrated by Lisa Vanderpump, perfectly transitioned viewers from *RHOBH* to *Vanderpump Rules* – it was a surprisingly effective (and dramatic) crossover!

Throughout the first season, Jax Taylor insisted he hadn’t cheated on Stassi Schroeder. However, in the finale, he finally confessed to having cheated on her in Las Vegas and revealed the other woman was pregnant.

Stassi and the rest of the cast were shocked by his confession, especially because they had previously supported him during the breakup.

A particularly scandalous moment happened in season two when Jax admitted to having slept with Kristen Doute, who was both Stassi’s best friend and dating Jax’s close friend, Tom Sandoval.

Kristen first denied anything happened, but eventually confessed she and Jax had a physical encounter during the season finale – though they didn’t kiss. This took place while Tom was asleep in another room, and they were watching the movie *Drive*, starring Ryan Gosling. The situation escalated when Stassi slapped Kristen, and Tom punched Jax.

Seasons later, Kristen later admitted to cheating on Tom throughout their six-year relationship.

When Ariana Madix joined the show in season two, Kristen became immediately wary of Tom’s friendship with her. Although both Tom and Ariana insisted nothing romantic had happened while he was with Kristen – and Ariana famously told her to “get over it” – Tom later confessed during the season two reunion that he and Ariana had kissed in a pool while in Las Vegas.

During an interview with Andy Cohen, Ariana addressed Tom’s past infidelity, admitting he’d confessed to cheating on Kristen a few times. She explained that, having been friends with him for three years, she wasn’t bothered by it at all. (She seemed resigned when she said it.)

Okay, so when Tom and Ariana finally admitted they were together, it was all fun and games until *she* messaged me on Instagram. This woman claimed she’d actually hooked up with Tom while he was partying in Miami with Jax and Schwartz! Can you believe it? I was SO furious, I brought her into SUR to confront him right there! But honestly, Ariana didn’t even seem to care. Tom just flat-out denied everything, and they just walked away like it was nothing! It was insane, and I knew something was off, but nobody would listen!

Looking back, it felt like Jax really didn’t have his friend’s back when he confirmed those claims – it wasn’t a great look. And then, after Tom and Ariana split last year, Jax – who hasn’t been on the show for a while now – posted this really vague tweet that just added fuel to the fire. Honestly, it felt a little messy.

He mentioned making many predictions on the show that others doubted. He also stated that everything he says eventually proves to be correct.

Following their wedding in 2016, Tom Schwartz admitted to kissing one of Lala Kent’s friends while intoxicated, as revealed in season six of the show.

When questioned about the incident, Schwartz admitted his memory was unclear. In a 2018 interview, he stated, “Absolutely not. It couldn’t have happened.” He recalled going to The Bungalow, but didn’t remember kissing anyone. He did, however, remember getting very drunk that night.

Schwartz later explained his actions, saying he was genuinely confused and didn’t understand why he’d behaved that way.

This wasn’t the first time Schwartz had been unfaithful to Katie while heavily intoxicated. He previously confessed to kissing someone else while drunk during the third season of the show.

After 12 years together, Katie and Schwartz announced their breakup in March 2022.

During a 2014 episode of the show, Jax accused Katie of infidelity, claiming she had performed a sexual act on another man – a claim he said he heard from Scheana. Katie was understandably upset by this accusation, and Scheana later apologized to her.

I never accused her of cheating, I just shared what I witnessed,” Scheana explained in a Bravo blog post. “After speaking with Katie, I understand things weren’t as they appeared. When Katie took her shoes off, her head happened to be near that person. And when she was dancing, while intoxicated, her head movements looked like she was ‘motorboating’ him. She didn’t cheat, but I do think she acted inappropriately.

Kristen discovered her boyfriend, James Kennedy, had been unfaithful during season four, piecing together evidence like Uber receipts. James initially denied it, claiming they might have only kissed, but later confessed to having sex with Jenna. This admission quickly became a memorable moment for fans!

James didn’t just cheat on Kristen once. He also had relationships with Lala, who thought he was available, and with Lauren, another SUR hostess who was already dating someone else who worked at the restaurant.

Following his split with Kristen, James started dating Raquel Leviss during the fifth season of the show. Their relationship soon became complicated by accusations of cheating. Scheana and Kristen confronted James at one of his DJ sets, bringing along three former coworkers who claimed to have had intimate encounters with him while he was with Raquel. They even had photos to support their claims, showing James asleep after these alleged encounters.

James refuted all accusations made by the women involved and continued dating Raquel for five years before they ended their engagement in 2021. After their breakup, James admitted to having an affair with Lala early in his relationship with Raquel.

In February, Raquel told TopMob News that she used to be very trusting and believed James was faithful. However, she now realizes he’s cheated on her repeatedly, which was very difficult to accept.

In 2017, Jax faced yet another cheating accusation during the season of the show. He admitted to having a hookup with Faith Stowers, a former waitress at SUR. Although he first denied it when the season began, Jax confessed after his girlfriend, Brittany Cartwright, challenged him about it – and he was wearing a Taco Bell sweatshirt at the time.

Jax admitted this wasn’t the first time he’d cheated. He explained that in the past, he’d tried repeatedly denying everything, but that strategy hadn’t worked. He also revealed that he and Brittany had been struggling in their relationship – a struggle viewers saw on their 2017 show, *Jax & Brittany Take Kentucky* – which led to him having a connection with Faith.

When Jax confessed, Brittany was understandably heartbroken and famously told him to “Rot in hell!” Although they briefly split up, they quickly got back together and married in June 2019. Two years after that, they had a son named Cruz.

On March 3, 2023, the Bravo Cinematic Universe (BCU) was rocked by the news that Tom and Ariana had split after nine years together. The breakup came after it was revealed Tom had been having a seven-month affair with Raquel.

In an Instagram post on March 8th, the co-owner of TomTom apologized, admitting they had made mistakes, acted selfishly, and made impulsive choices that caused pain to someone they care about. They acknowledged that no one should have to experience such hurt, especially in a public way.

He expressed his deepest regret for letting Ariana down and for disappointing those who cared about him, including his family and friends.

Raquel publicly apologized to Ariana, admitting she was completely in the wrong. She also released another statement discussing what her relationship with Tom might look like going forward.

Raquel shared with TopMob News that she’s prioritizing her well-being and personal development, and needs some time to herself. While she cares about Tom, she’s not ready to define their relationship or speculate about the future. Her focus right now is on healing.

In her 2025 memoir, *My Good Side*, Scheana shared that her husband was unfaithful to her with a former friend back in 2020, while she was pregnant with their daughter, Summer Moon.

She explained that while she was at home pregnant with their child, Brock was at his gym, F45 Training East Hillcrest in San Diego, when he unexpectedly met his former lover. They reconnected, and he later admitted to having a short affair with her.

Brock later came clean about his cheating during 2023’s Scandoval controversy.

Scheana shared that he admitted he was risking losing his family by cheating and promised it wouldn’t happen again. He also told her their encounter was just physical, with no emotional connection, and that he always used protection.
