How Normani Pitched Herself for Jordan Chiles’ DWTS Finale Routine

It didn’t take a lot of motivation for Normani to make her Dancing With the Stars return.

The singer, who danced with Val Chmerkovskiy on season 24 back in 2017, unexpectedly appeared during the season 34 finale on November 25th. She joined finalist Jordan Chiles and professional dancer Ezra Sosa for their freestyle performance, which featured music by Beyoncé and the song “Motivation.”

Okay, so you will NOT believe this! After the show, Jordan told Will Marfuggi from TopMob News the whole story. Apparently, Normani was in the audience back in late September, and she actually came up to him and was like, ‘I think I should be in your freestyle!’ I seriously almost died when I heard that! He didn’t even think she was being serious at first, but then her manager called him and was all, ‘No, she really, really wants to be in it!’ Can you even imagine?! She just knew she belonged in that freestyle, and she made it happen! It’s so perfect, honestly.

Needless to say, the Olympian quickly made it happen.

I remember telling Ezra, ‘We’ve got this! Let’s create a freestyle that everyone will be talking about for years to come.’ I was so determined to make it unforgettable!

Jordan and Ezra truly impressed, and judge Carrie Ann Inaba declared their performance the best freestyle routine in the 20-year history of Dancing with the Stars.

Jordan admitted they weren’t sure they’d even reach the final round, and were anxious about what would happen. Hearing that people considered their freestyle performance to be one of the best they’d ever seen is incredibly meaningful to them.

As a huge fan, I was so inspired by her run on Dancing with the Stars! Even though she finished third, just behind Alix Earle and winner Robert Irwin, she’s said it’s shown her that ‘anything is possible,’ and honestly, that’s the message I needed to hear. It was amazing to watch her, and that belief is so powerful.

As someone who loves both gymnastics and exploring new skills, I can tell you my time on Dancing with the Stars was a game-changer! Seriously, everything I learned there – the technique, the artistry, the confidence – is going to completely influence my gymnastics. You might even see a little bit of that dance flair sneak into my floor routine this season – I’m excited to try some new things!
