How Oliver Hudson Is Keeping His Kids From Becoming “Entitled”

When it comes to parenting, Oliver Hudson learned from the best.

The host of the Sibling Revelry podcast shared how Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell raised him and his siblings – Kate Hudson, Boston Russell, and Wyatt Russell – to stay grounded while growing up in Hollywood.

Oliver, 49, shared with TopMob News at the Make-A-Wish Gala in Los Angeles on December 5th that true fulfillment begins at home. He emphasized that external factors like fame or wealth are unimportant, and what truly matters is the connection with your family.

Adam Sandler, known for his role in Happy Gilmore 2, praised Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell for raising their children without spoiling them. He presented his mother with the Power of a Wish Award at the event and shared that it was a priority for Goldie, 80, and Kurt, 74, to avoid raising entitled children.

Oliver, a father to Wilder (18), Bodhi (15), and Rio (12) with his wife Erinn Bartlett, has raised his own children similarly to how he was raised by his parents. His biological father is Bill Hudson.

He explained that he wants to share the lessons he’s learned – things Katie, Wyatt, and he experienced growing up – with his own children. He feels it’s important to teach them those strategies and values. He dismissed the media attention, saying all the cameras and flashes are just a distraction from what really matters.

Goldie Hawn didn’t just teach her children strong values – she also inspired their careers. Both Oliver and Kate have become actors like their mother, and she suggests her grandchildren might pursue showbiz too.

Goldie Hawn explained to Access Hollywood in August, during an interview with Oliver and Rio, that she and Kate Hudson didn’t have a say in certain situations. She emphasized that it wasn’t a decision they could make themselves, and felt this time was no different.

Oliver acknowledged his daughter’s talent, but strongly emphasized that she wasn’t ready to be thrust into the public eye just yet.

I’m such a fan, and it’s no surprise she’s such an incredible dancer – it truly seems like performing is just natural for her! I recently read that her dad said they’re planning to start with stage plays, which I think is a fantastic idea and I can’t wait to see what she does with it.
