The 2025 Emmy Awards was about more than a trophy.
On September 14th, Hollywood celebrated the best in television, and several stars showed why they’re so beloved with awards for their incredible achievements and recognition.
As a lifestyle expert, I’m always thrilled to see young talent shine! Take Owen Cooper from *Adolescence*, for example. He recently made history by becoming the youngest person *ever* to win an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a limited series or movie – and the youngest male Emmy winner, period! It’s incredibly inspiring to witness such achievement at a young age.
The 15-year-old shared a moving message about being true to yourself and believing in your abilities as he reflected on his experiences. During his acceptance speech, he explained that taking risks and pushing past your fears can lead to amazing things. He encouraged everyone to not worry about embarrassment, because anything is possible with focus and determination. (You can find a list of all the winners here.)
In other news, Tramell Tillman from *Severance* made Emmy history as the first Black actor to win the award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. The 40-year-old thanked his mother, who was watching in the audience, when he accepted his award.
He told his mother, “You were always there for me, even when nobody else was, and I’ll never forget your kindness. This is my way of thanking you.”
The show *The Studio* wasn’t the only one making history at the awards. It actually broke records, winning a total of 13 awards – the most ever for a comedy series. Previously, *The Bear* held the record with 10 wins in 2023. *The Studio* also set a new record for the most wins for a comedy series in its first season, earning 23 nominations in total. Seth Rogen also won Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series.
The Emmy Awards saw history made not only by the winners, but also by some of those nominated. Ayo Edebiri, at 29, became the youngest Black woman to receive three Emmy nominations for acting, building on her 2023 win. She was nominated for Lead Actress in a Comedy Series and Directing a Comedy Series for *The Bear*. Jean Smart won the award for *Hacks*.
At 21 years old, Bella Ramsey made history with their nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for *The Last of Us*. This nomination marked them as the youngest person to be nominated twice in the category and the first non-binary individual to achieve this milestone.
Kathy Bates, at 77, became the oldest person ever nominated for a leading role in a drama series thanks to her work on *Matlock*, and she says she was completely surprised by the recognition. Before taking the role on CBS, she had actually decided to retire from acting.
She told *The Hollywood Reporter* in October 2024 that she felt incredibly fortunate to have such a supportive team and production behind the show. She described its success as amazing, saying everyone involved – both the cast and crew – is thrilled. She admitted it’s different from anything she’s seen in her career, and she’s especially grateful considering how far along she is in her career.
