With excitement building for the return of Spider-Man in Spider-Man: Brand New Day – boosted by a huge marketing push and a popular trailer – Marvel Studios is also preparing for another New York hero’s comeback next week: Daredevil: Born Again Season 2. Charlie Cox will reprise his role as Matt Murdock, and Vincent D’Onofrio returns as Kingpin, hinting at another conflict between the two. Given that both stories take place in the same city, fans are wondering if these two releases might connect in some way. New York is large, but it’s a surprisingly small world for superheroes!
Chris Killian from ComicBook recently spoke with Executive Producer Sana Amanat and showrunner Dario Scardapane about the upcoming season of their show. They talked about what spoilers they wished they could reveal, and even whether the beards worn by Vincent and Charlie would play a role in the story. A key question was how the events of Spider-Man: Brand New Day might influence the third season. Scardapane initially joked about the connection, suggesting it was something for younger characters, while Amanat offered a more thoughtful response.
That’s a tough question. I’m not sure what the answer is, and I’m hesitant to say definitively one way or another. We’re focused on telling our story in the best way possible, and season two is a major step in that direction – you’ll understand where we’re headed soon enough. While it could stand on its own, I honestly don’t know for sure, as I haven’t seen the final version yet. So, I really couldn’t say.
