How the Grammys Paid Tribute to Ozzy Osbourne 6 Months After His Death

Ozzy Osbourne’s legacy will live on forever.

Trevor Noah hosted the 2026 Grammys at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on February 1st, where a special tribute was held for the Black Sabbath member who passed away from a heart attack six months prior at the age of 76.

As a huge Ozzy fan, the ‘In Memoriam’ segment really got to me. It was beautiful – they paid tribute with some amazing music, including nods to Roberta Flack and D’Angelo, and a performance by Reba McEntire. But the absolute highlight was when Post Malone, Slash, Duff McKagan, Chad Smith, and Andrew Watt all came together to play ‘War Pigs’ – it was such a powerful and fitting tribute to Ozzy.

Ozzy Osbourne has won five Grammy Awards during his successful career, including two with Black Sabbath and three as a solo artist.

The event became a family moment, with Sharon Osbourne and her children, Kelly, 41, and Jack, 40, all in attendance. Both Sharon and Kelly appeared deeply emotional throughout the tribute.

Kelly mentioned before the event that she was excited to see the music world honor her father.

She shared during the live Grammy’s red carpet broadcast that she was deeply moved and couldn’t quite find the words to describe how much it meant to see her colleague recognized and celebrated by the music community, especially because he truly deserved it. She added that it was going to be a very emotional moment.

Following Ozzy’s death, his family has revealed details about his final days, including Sharon sharing what he said to her the night before he passed away.

She explained, with tears in her eyes on Piers Morgan Uncensored in December, that he kept getting up to go to the bathroom all night. He woke her up at 4:30 a.m., and she responded angrily, saying she was already awake because of him.

“He said, ‘Kiss me,’” she continued. “And then he said, ‘Hug me tight.’”

Now, at 73, she says she wishes she’d taken more time to enjoy the experience when it was happening.

“If only I’d have told him I loved him more,” she said. “If only I’d have held him tighter.”

However, the former reality star found solace in remembering how much love Ozzy received throughout his life. She recalled his touching reaction at his farewell concert, “Back to the Beginning,” held on July 5th at Villa Park in Birmingham, England.

Sharon recently shared with Pollstar that shortly before Ozzy Osbourne’s death, he turned to her and said he was surprised by how many people enjoyed his work. She added that Ozzy had always lived somewhat in his own world.

She exclaimed that metal fans are incredibly dedicated. Once someone becomes a metal fan, they stick with it for life and remain loyal forever.

Sharon Osbourne, who shares 42-year-old daughter Aimee with Ozzy, was thankful her husband of 43 years had the chance to connect with his fans before passing away.

She said it was the first time anyone had ever said goodnight to her in such a meaningful way, and that it was the perfect ending to her long career.
