How To Beat Fortune Beyond Parlor In Thaw Of Eons Event Of Where Winds Meet

Although Where Winds Meet isn’t a traditional gacha game focused on collecting characters, it has many similar features. It includes a separate system for unlocking cosmetic items through a gacha mechanic, and as a live-service game, it’s regularly updated with new stories and locations to discover.

So, between the big updates, there are always cool events happening. These usually have little minigames that are a nice change of pace. Take ‘The Thaw of Eons,’ for example. It was a really fun event because it didn’t feel like the usual grind. Instead of doing the normal stuff, I got to play a card game – it was a totally different experience!

How To Unlock Thaw Of Eons

The game Where Winds Meet received a Version 1.1 update on December 12, 2025, along with a new event called Thaw Of Eons. This event is available for a limited time, running until January 5, 2026. Players can participate before then for a chance to win exclusive rewards, such as a Resonating or Lingering Melody and a unique Ox-Head outfit.

As a player, I was excited to jump into this event pretty early! You can start it as soon as you hit level five and finish the ‘Another New Wing’ chapter in the Qinghe storyline – it’s one of the first things you unlock that isn’t tied to the main story. Once that’s done, the event center opens up, and you can get right into it!

The event unlocks in three phases, with the first phase having the Fortune Beyond Parlor game mode.

Fortune Beyond Parlor Game Mode Guide

Fortune Beyond Parlor is the central game mode for the Thaw Of Eons event. You can play it alone, matched with three AI opponents (bots), or team up with or against three other players. While solo play is an option, many find playing against real people more enjoyable, as the game relies heavily on both luck and skillful decision-making.

Okay, so when I jump into this game mode, I’m at a table with three other players. Each round, we all get dealt five cards. The whole deck only has 20 cards total – five of each number card (one, two, and three), plus some special cards. Before each round even starts, the game picks a ‘safe’ number – either one, two, or three – and it shows up on the top-left of my screen so I know what to look out for.

The special card can never be the safe card, and the safe card is always decided at random.

Once the safe card is chosen, the deck is dealt out randomly to all four players. The first player gets to start and can play up to three cards. After you play, other players can either challenge your play, or the next player can take their turn. Here’s what happens if someone challenges you:

  • If all the cards you played are safe, the challenger has to drink a bottle.
  • If any one or more of the cards you played are unsafe, you and all the other players on the table take a drink.

Besides the safety card displayed in the top-left corner, special cards are always safe to play – you don’t need to worry about what the current safe card is. Also, you can challenge another player’s cards at any time by using the button at the bottom of the screen.

Every player starts with four bottles, and one of them contains poison. After losing a challenge, a player randomly drinks one of their bottles. This means there’s a 25% chance you’ll drink the poison bottle on your first loss, and the odds get higher with each loss. If you drink the poison, you’re out of the game.

Once you’re out of the game, you can choose to watch others play or leave to collect your rewards and begin a new game.

Tips To Win In Fortune Beyond Parlor

Okay, so let’s be real – winning in this game mode is pretty heavily based on luck. But, I’ve found a few things you can do to give yourself a better shot at coming out on top. It’s not a guaranteed win, but it definitely helps!

  • The first turn is the most important. In this, you should either play a small number of unsafe cards or a large number of safe cards, with the latter relying on making your opponent challenge you.
  • Pay attention to the time it takes for your opponent to play their cards. If they play three cards near the end of their turn’s time, at least one of them is likely unsafe.
  • You can roughly gauge how many safe cards each player has based on what’s in your hand. For example, if you have three safe cards, there are only seven more in the game. Hence, there are slim chances of an opponent having another three safe cards.
