As a dedicated Donkey Kong fan, I was absolutely thrilled when Donkey Kong Bananza was unveiled during the Nintendo Switch 2 presentation, catching us all off guard. Now that I’ve finally got my hands on both the game and the console, I’ve been diving deep into my quest for a hundred percent completion. In the chilly Freezer Layer, three ancient record pieces are hidden, and here’s how to track them down!
How to Find Freezer Layer Ancient Record Pieces in Donkey Kong Bananza
In the Freezer Layer, you’ll come across three historical artifacts that the Zebra Elder wants you to gather. Luckily, locating these items isn’t too challenging and shouldn’t take you much time at all.
Beginning your journey, you’ll find a nearby record piece, easily reachable with a brisk walk. A quick glance at the map reveals that it lies over a patch of solidified lava, leading to the intriguing inquiry: How does one traverse this area?
As you move toward that location, you’ll find a considerable amount of snow on the hills above the flowing lava. Go ahead and gather some snow and aim it at the approaching lava that seems to be heading towards the important artifact you can clearly spot from this vantage point. It isn’t too far away!
Let’s build a snow bridge first, then pick up the old artifact. Once done, return to our original spot so we can move on to the following one. Easy as that!
If you converse with the Zebra Non-Player Characters, they’ll divulge the locations where the other record fragments can be found (alongside the one we recently obtained). Our next destination is a patch of purple metal situated in a lava-ridden region, and an NPC will guide you to it.
Navigate cautiously across the lava zone. To generate safe spots for walking, gather soil from the ground and toss it at the huge icicles clinging to the overhead metal pipes. As they fall, they’ll cool down some of the lava, making it possible to traverse the area.
Eventually, you’ll encounter a “tough, purple metallic substance” that you can shatter to gain access to the next ancient artifact fragment. Just remember, smashing this purple metal will clear the path through the rocky terrain, revealing a flow of molten lava. This lava path now provides easy access to the artifact that was previously blocked.
Instead of standing on the spot where the old purple metal once lay, you’ll soon discover a massive chunk of ice in its place. Break off pieces from this block to construct a bridge leading to the next antique record fragment.
Using the antique artifact, navigate through the tunnel beside the molten rock platform by performing the “Turf Surf” maneuver. This path will guide you to a “banana-shaped gem” that’s up for grabs, along with a barrel which instantly returns you to the zebra elder!
Lastly, the missing piece is located at the enormous air circulators in the map. Make your way upwards and you’ll spot numerous static metal ventilators, some of which are secured near the edge. By destroying the violet chains attached to these ventilators, they will start spinning once more.
Using well-timed jumps, you can transition from one rotating blade to ascend beneath the higher fans above. Continue your journey through these fans until you encounter another one hanging in mid-air by an empty space, which you can scale. At the summit, find a piece of metal that you can break off to restart the fan’s motion.
As soon as the fan begins spinning, you’ll find your way unobstructed to grab the historical artifact lying a bit further. Once you pick it up, just leap down since the wise old zebra is nearly underneath that very spot!
As a fellow enthusiast, I must say we’ve reached the end of our exploration with these antique artifacts. Remember to be patient while interacting with them, as certain spinning components might occasionally move, which could momentarily disorient you.
