You can go fish as one of the optional activities in Blue Protocol: Star Resonance.
Contrary to what you might think, fishing isn’t considered a core Life Skill in this game. It’s more of a fun, optional pastime. Because of this, you unlock it in a different way than other skills, and it functions quite uniquely!
In this quick guide, we’ll tell you everything you need to get started with fishing in this game.
How to Fish | Blue Protocol: Star Resonance
You’ll be able to start fishing after completing the main story quest, “Fireworks Fantasy Night.” Once you finish that quest, you’ll get a new side quest called “Invitation From the Fishing Guild.”
Begin this quick tutorial by speaking with the Fishing Guild Member. You’ll find them in Asterleeds’ Central District, as shown in the image above.
When you join the guild, you’ll get a basic fishing pole and 5 beginner baits to help you get started. It’s not a huge amount, but it’s a good set of equipment for new players!
Once you’ve finished talking, head to the Fishing Spot in Yacht Harbor. You’ll find it in the eastern area of Asterleeds – it’s marked with a fish icon on the map.
When you reach the location, look for a glowing area with a view of the sea. Touching it will begin the fishing game. The game will explain how to play, so be sure to read the instructions.
Explaining the Fishing Minigmae
To start fishing, first choose a fishing rod and bait – you’ll find them at the bottom of the screen. Then, cast your line by clicking (on a computer) or tapping (on a touch screen) and wait for a fish to bite!
You’ll know a fish has bitten when the bobber dips below the surface and you see an exclamation mark (!), like in the picture. Just click or tap the screen once that happens!
Okay, so once you’ve hooked a fish, you’ll need to steer it by moving your rod left and right using the A and D keys while you’re reeling it in with the mouse. The most important thing is to watch the Tension meter – you really want to keep it below 100% or you’ll lose the fish! It’s all about finding that balance while you reel.
When the line feels tight, ease up and point your fishing rod towards the fish, stopping the reeling process. To actually bring the fish in, switch directions – point the rod *away* from the fish and begin reeling. The key is to find a balance between these two actions: reeling to bring the fish closer, while also keeping the line from becoming too tight.
The bar under the Tension percentage shows how close you are to reeling in the fish. To catch it, fill the bar completely and bring it to the fisherman icon on the left side of the screen.
As part of this tutorial, you need to catch an Astercad at the Yacht Harbor. Once you’ve caught one, go back to the Fishing Guild Member you spoke to earlier. She’ll reward you with some goodies, including more Bait!
You can now fish at any Fishing Spot in the game! Look for the spots marked with fish icons to start.
Now you have everything you need to fish in Blue Protocol: Star Resonance! It’s time to head out and enjoy the peaceful experience of fishing.
