BlackGatomon is a very popular Digimon in Digimon Story Time Stranger. Its unique, dark cat-like appearance helps it stand out, and a lot of players try to add it to their team early in the game. Getting BlackGatomon isn’t as simple as just finding it, though. You’ll need to follow a specific set of steps: first, you have to recruit Gazimon, and then you can digivolve it into BlackGatomon.
This guide will walk you through everything needed to obtain BlackGatomon, starting with locating Gazimon and then fulfilling the requirements to unlock its digivolution.
How to Get Gazimon
To get BlackGatomon, you first need to recruit Gazimon, as it’s the Digimon that BlackGatomon evolves from.
You’ll find Gazimon immediately after beating MetalGreymon (Virus). After the battle, go to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building Entrance – that’s where Gazimon will appear.

Rather than capturing Digimon in the traditional way, Digimon Story Time Stranger features a data collection system. Every time you win a battle against a Digimon, some of its information is saved to your Digivice. Once you’ve gathered 100% data, you can transform it into a Digimon you can actually use.
Continue fighting Gazimon until its data is completely filled, reaching 100%. Then, use the Digivice menu to convert it. Once you do that, Gazimon will officially become part of your team.
How to Digivolve Gazimon Into BlackGatomon
Once Gazimon is on your team, it’s time to unlock its digivolution path into BlackGatomon.
1 – Open the Digimon menu:

2 – Select the Digivolution menu:

3 – Choose Gazimon and review its available evolutions.

BlackGatomon will appear as one of the options, but to unlock it you need to meet two requirements:
- Agent Rank 3 or higher
- SPI (Spirit) stat of at least 530
If your Gazimon isn’t quite ready yet, concentrate on training and increasing its level. You can improve its SPI by participating in battles, utilizing items that enhance stats, or simply allowing it to grow naturally as you continue your journey.
After fulfilling both requirements, approve the digivolution, and your Gazimon will become BlackGatomon.

Why You Should Get BlackGatomon
BlackGatomon isn’t just a cool character to add to your team – it’s also really effective. It’s fast, hits hard, and works well with lots of different team setups. Its attacks are designed for fast-paced combat, and as you progress, you can evolve it into even more powerful forms that will be valuable later on in the game.
If I’m trying to create a well-rounded team – you know, something with both serious power and quickness – I always consider BlackGatomon. She’s a really solid pick, offering a great balance of both!
