Ranamon, known as Lanamon in Digimon Story Time Stranger, stands out as a special Digimon because she can use a Mode Change to transform into Calamaramon. This isn’t like a normal Digivolution that permanently changes your Digimon; instead, Mode Change allows you to switch back and forth between Ranamon and Calamaramon at any time. This provides two different ways to play with a single Digimon, making her a strong and adaptable addition to your team.
To achieve this change, you’ll start by evolving Gizamon into Ranamon. After that, you need to fulfill the requirements to trigger Calamaramon’s Mode Change. Here’s a detailed, step-by-step guide.
How to Get Gizamon in Digimon Story Time Stranger
To get Ranamon, you first need to unlock Gizamon. The simplest way to do this is to begin a new game and choose Gomamon as your initial Digimon.
Steps to unlock Gizamon
1.Start with Gomamon: Choose Gomamon as your starter when you begin the game.
Okay, so here’s what I did to get things moving. I played through the game until I could unlock the ability to Devolve to Bukamon. Once I had that, I used it on Gomamon to turn him into Bukamon. It’s a pretty key step, so I wanted to call it out!
3. Train Bukamon: Raise your Bukamon until it meets these stat requirements:
- ・ Agent Rank 1 or higher
- ・ 400+ Max SP
- ・ 210+ SPI
4. Evolve into Gizamon: Once the conditions are met, Bukamon will evolve into Gizamon.
Now that you have Gizamon, you’re ready to move on to Ranamon.
How to Digivolve Gizamon Into Ranamon
With Gizamon on your team, the next step is to evolve it into Ranamon.
- Open the Digimon menu.
2. Go to the Digivolution menu.
3. Select Gizamon and check its evolutions.
Once you’ve met all the necessary requirements, confirm the Digivolution, and Gizamon will transform into Ranamon (Lanamon).
Requirements to unlock Ranamon
- Agent Rank 3 or higher
- 1580 Max SP or greater
- 1130 INT or greater
How to Unlock Calamaramon Through Mode Change
Ranamon is unique because her Digivolution path isn’t typical. She gains a Mode Change, which lets her become Calamaramon. This is different from a regular Digivolution because it’s not permanent – you can switch back and forth between Ranamon and Calamaramon whenever you want once Ranamon is part of your team.
To switch Digimon forms using Mode Change, go to the Digimon menu, pick Ranamon (Lanamon), and then select the Mode Change option.
After that, you can immediately switch between playing as Ranamon and Calamaramon at any time, effectively giving you two different ways to play within a single Digimon.
You can also switch forms directly in battle by using their special signature attacks:
- Titanic Charge changes Ranamon into Calamaramon.
- Rain Stream changes Calamaramon back into Ranamon.
This allows you to quickly change your approach during battle, choosing between swiftness and magical ability (Ranamon) or brute strength and resilience (Calamaramon).
Why You Should Use Ranamon & Calamaramon
Ranamon and Calamaramon are really versatile because you’re effectively getting two Digimon for the price of one. They offer great flexibility in your team composition, allowing for strategic options.
- Ranamon: Fast, evasive, and focused on water-based magical attacks.
- Calamaramon: A slower but much stronger form with devastating physical power and higher durability.
Quickly changing between forms allows you to handle various challenges effectively. Utilize Ranamon for fast-paced battles and those requiring magical attacks, and then transform into Calamaramon when you need a more durable and powerful fighter.
