A remastered version of Red Dead Redemption is coming soon, and there are ways to experience it without paying. Rockstar Games has proven they can create multiple blockbuster franchises, not just Grand Theft Auto. Red Dead Redemption is their second most successful series. Before Red Dead Redemption (released in 2010), there was a lesser-known western shooter called Red Dead Revolver. While different from the Redemption games, Revolver helped establish the Wild West setting that Rockstar would later expand upon.
The Red Dead Redemption games are famous for their incredible stories, proving that open-world games can be about much more than just action. While many fans are hoping for a Red Dead Redemption 3, it might need to focus on a new set of characters, as the current story feels complete. If you haven’t experienced these games, or if you’re looking for an excuse to play them again, Rockstar recently announced some exciting updates that might interest you.
Red Dead Redemption Gets Free Remaster Upgrade on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2

On December 2nd, Red Dead Redemption is being remastered for modern platforms, including Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and even mobile devices through Netflix. The updated version will feature improved graphics with 4K resolution and smoother gameplay at 60 frames per second. The best part? If you already own the game on PlayStation 4, Xbox 360/Xbox One, or Nintendo Switch, you’ll receive a free upgrade to the new version on the corresponding next-generation console – no extra cost required!
If you don’t already own the game and you have a PlayStation 5, you’re still in luck! Red Dead Redemption will be available to PlayStation Plus subscribers at no extra cost when it launches. This is great news for PlayStation fans, giving them access to a truly classic game. Now, if only a remastered version of Red Dead Redemption 2 would come out – that, along with the upcoming launch of Grand Theft Auto VI next November, would be amazing!
