Deviljho location in Monster Hunter Stories 3
You can find the Deviljho by unlocking the Canalta Timberland area. It takes a few hours to get there, as you’ll need to progress through the Azuria region first. Specifically, look in the northeast part of Canalta Timberland, near the river. I’ve marked the location on the map to help you. Just explore along the riverbank, and you should be able to spot the Deviljho if it’s there.

Deviljho is a particularly tough monster, and defeating it requires teamwork and strategy. First, you need to learn how it attacks.
How to defeat the Deviljho in Monster Hunter Stories 3
Let’s first understand the Deviljho’s attacks before discussing how to defeat it. It primarily uses two different attacks.
- In the Normal state, it will do Power attacks, so you can counter it with Speed.
- In the Enraged state, it will do Speed attacks, so you can counter it with Technical.
When it switches from Normal to Enraged, look out for visual cues when it transitions.

Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to defeat the Deviljho.
- You’ll want to begin with a monstie that excels in Speed attacks. The Deviljho will always begin with Power attacks.
- Keep targeting it with Speed attacks until it loses a chunk of its health. Once it enters the Enraged state, it will have a red glow. Now, you’ll need to switch to Technical attacks.
While these are the basics, here are some key pointers to remember when selecting your gear.
- You’ll want to bring weapons (or monsties) that can exploit Dragon and Thunder weaknesses.
- You’ll also want to utilize skills that apply Sleep or Paralysis. When the Deviljho is enraged, you’ll need skills that can break its momentum and give you a free attack.
- Once you’ve unlocked Kayna and Avinia, fighting the Deviljho gets easier. Avinia is great as support, while Kayna helps to deal more damage.
When the Deviljho is low on health, use a Paintball. This increases the likelihood it will retreat, potentially leading you to its nest. Finding the nest lets you obtain a Deviljho egg and hatch your own.
You’ll need to defeat the Deviljho multiple times to collect its parts by breaking them. These parts are used to craft some of the most powerful equipment in Monster Hunter Stories 3.
Best Deviljho weapons and armors in Monster Hunter Stories 3
Here’s a list of some of the best gear items you can make from Deviljho parts.

- Deviljho Hammer: One of the best hammers due to its raw damage and ability to break different parts.
- Deviljho Great Sword: Ideal against monsties where you need to deal a lot of damage from single blows.
- Deviljho Armor: The armor has several important skills like Tenacity (allows you to withstand one fatal damage) and Vigilance (deals more critical damage when your HP is low).
Deviljho Armor is considered top-tier and particularly effective against Invasive Monsters. This makes Deviljho a valuable monster to hunt, but it’s a challenging fight, so choose your moment carefully.
