In Where Winds Meet, you’ll collect many items throughout your journey. Don’t underestimate anything – even seemingly ordinary objects could be valuable relics with fascinating histories. That armor you’re wearing, for example, might be a powerful ancient artifact waiting to reveal its story.
Antiques can be tricky – you often don’t realize how valuable something old might be. But in this game, everything has a purpose. These antiques aren’t just for show; you’ll need to discover how to use them.
What Are Antiques?

Most areas in the game contain Antiques, and these are all listed in your in-game Journal for each location. Although the Journal doesn’t tell you where you found each Antique, you can easily view all of them in your bag by filtering to show only Traceable items.
Antiques are often found scattered throughout the world, and can be anything from old letters and fans to pieces of armor or handkerchiefs. Many of these items can be equipped and used. However, you won’t always know you’ve found an Antique right away – you’ll need to identify its value first before it’s recognized as one.
If you find an item with a detailed description or that adds an entry to your collection, don’t discard it. However, if you do happen to lose it, you can usually get another one from the Incense Burner.
Where To Find Antiques
You can find antiques throughout the game, but be sure to consult the area’s Journal to see if any are still undiscovered. Unfortunately, they aren’t shown on the map, so you’ll have to collect every item you encounter to find them.
Finding Antiques
Because antiques always have a past, you usually won’t find them just anywhere – they’re typically discovered in places with a story or some activity happening.
You can discover items like a Handkerchief near the Peace Bell Tower – the location of a past duel – or Ye Wanshan’s armor by defeating him at Bodhi Sea. The game provides clues and context within each area to help you find these hidden objects.
Things get a little tricky when you discover an item that could become an Antique, but the game hasn’t registered it as one yet. You might already have it, but it won’t appear as ‘found’ in your inventory. That’s why it’s a good idea to try and activate Antiques as soon as you suspect an item might be one.
Activating Antiques
The ultimate aim when you find an Antique is to activate it. These items often include detailed descriptions that tell you about their history and usually give clues on how to unlock their full potential, revealing their Traces of the Past.
For instance, the description of Ye Wanshan’s armour says it was meant to be given to a monk. Finding this monk will reveal the armour’s history, upgrading it to an Antique.
If you open your bag and filter the items to show only Traceable Antiques, you’ll see a list of all the Antiques you’re still researching. Clicking on any of these will take you to its page, where you can find clues to help fully activate it and unlock more of its history.
Activating The Halo Peak Incense Burner
At first glance, collecting antiques might seem like simply a pleasant way to learn about the past, and that’s perfectly valid. It’s an enjoyable system that naturally encourages exploration, but there’s actually a lot more depth to discover beyond the basics.
At Halo Peak, you’ll meet Qingxuan, who will tell you about Antiques, Traces of the Past, and Concealed Edges. Learning the full history of these antiques might unlock hidden abilities through Concealed Edges, but first, you’ll need to use Qinghe Memories.
Where To Get The Qinghe Memories Item
Qingxuan wants you to sacrifice Karma to power up the Incense Burner, but he’s really after the Qinghe Memories item.
You receive this item as a reward for reaching level six in the Qinghe Exploration system. To get there, you’ll need to explore a significant portion of the Qinghe region. You earn exploration experience by doing almost anything in the game, especially while searching for Antiques and their related clues.
Once you obtain the Qinghe Memories, simply give it to Qingxuan, and he will unlock the Incense Burner for you.
Getting Antique Clues
The Incense Burner at Halo Peak is a really helpful, and completely free, tool. For every Antique hidden in Qinghe, it will give you hints about its location and what the Antique actually is.
The Incense Burner can also give you back any Antiques you’ve recycled for a small fee
.
For instance, one hint mentions the Tang Palace Hairpin, revealing it’s located at a solitary grave deep within the Gleaming Abyss. While this doesn’t explain how to get the Traces of the Past, it does identify the Antique itself and helps you keep track of which ones you’ve already found.
How To Get Concealed Edge
The main goal of collecting antiques and researching their history is to get a hidden advantage. Although the game suggests you can use any antique as an accessory, only certain weapons can actually be upgraded this way.
Currently, it looks like only swords and spears can be crafted into accessories, and even then, the number of items that can be transformed is limited.
Qingxuan doesn’t explain exactly how to get the Concealed Edge, but checking the Incense Burner on the map can help. You unlock it by finding all the Antiques in an entire region.
This task isn’t limited to one specific location like the General’s Shrine; it applies to all the smaller areas within a larger region. For example, in Qinghe, these areas include the Verdant Wilds, Moonveil Mountain, and Sundara Land. Once you’ve found all the Antiques in any of those areas, return to Qingxuan, and he’ll reward you with a Concealed Edge for each completed region.
After obtaining a Concealed Edge, simply select it from the menu. This will show you all the weapons it can be applied to, and then it will become a permanent accessory for those weapons.
