The Shatterseal Great Sword, like all weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds, requires effort to unlock its crafting recipe.
I’ve always loved the Great Sword in Wilds, ever since the game came out last year. But the Shatterseal Great Sword is a special weapon that was added in an update in February 2026.
Although the weapon itself is free to make, obtaining the necessary materials can be challenging. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you add it to your collection.

How to craft the Shatterseal Great Sword in Monster Hunter Wilds
Getting the Shatterseal Great Sword has a bit of a catch. Luckily, you can make it if you have the Master Craftsman’s Blueprint. However, that blueprint is hard to come by. If you’re new to the game, it’s better to focus on getting easier-to-obtain weapons first.

Okay, so if you want the Master Craftsman’s Blueprint, you’ll need to tackle the new quest, “Every Hunter’s Dream.” It’s not quite as brutal as the Proof of a Hero event, but it’s still a tough one. Basically, you’re facing off against four Tempered Quematrices and a Tempered Mizutsune – it’s an 8-star event, so be prepared! When you start the quest, it’ll send you straight to the Wounded Hollow.
You have 50 minutes to finish the quest, and you can only fail (faint) up to three times. Experienced players should find it manageable, but you’ll need to complete it three times in total. If you want to earn both the Shatterseal and Shatterseal Drakesnest Great Swords, you’ll need three Master Craftsman’s Blueprints.

Okay, so if you’re like me and you really want to customize the Shatterseal Greatsword and use it as a layered weapon, you absolutely need the Shatterseal Drakesnest. It’s not optional – it’s a requirement!
Here’s the complete list of requirements.
Shatterseal
- Two Master Craftsman’s Blueprint
- 12 Quematrice Scale+
- Four Bubblefoam
- Two Wyvern Gem
Shatterseal Drakesnest
- Five Hunter Symbol III
- One Master Craftsman’s Blueprint
- Eight Quematrice Igniter+
- One Mizutsune Water Orb

Okay, so the Shatterseal Great Sword is decent – it’s got good skills and stats, no doubt. But honestly, if you’re pushing for really high-level content, like 9-star or 10-star quests, you’re better off crafting the Shatterseal Drakesnest version. The biggest problem with the regular Great Sword is it just doesn’t have that strong elemental damage that really makes a difference at the endgame. Still, it’s not a bad weapon to have around, so I wouldn’t totally ditch it!
