
Fans of the “How to Train Your Dragon” series have exciting news! A live-action remake of “How to Train Your Dragon 2” is in the works, starring Mason Thames as Hiccup and Nico Parker as Astrid. The film is on track for a June 11, 2027, release and promises to deliver the same thrilling adventure as the original.
Dean DeBlois, the writer and director behind the popular How to Train Your Dragon franchise, is returning to lead a second remake of the film. He previously co-directed the first movie with Chris Sanders and then directed the sequels and last year’s live-action version. DeBlois announced on Instagram this week that filming has begun, sharing a photo of himself with a clapperboard and writing, “Back in the saddle! Day 1 of principal photography on HTTYD2! The adventure begins.”
