How to Train Your Dragon Live-Action Movie Confirms Streaming Date (But Fans Get an Extra Surprise Too)

This year, the live-action version of “How to Train Your Dragon” took flight in cinemas and became a huge hit for both DreamWorks and Universal. Interestingly, the live-action adaptation exceeded the box office earnings of all its animated counterparts. Now, several months after winning over cinema audiences, the live-action “How to Train Your Dragon” is set to arrive on streaming platforms at last.

As a dedicated cinephile, I’m thrilled to share some exciting news! On Wednesday, Universal revealed that the live-action version of How to Train Your Dragon will be making its streaming premiere on Peacock, starting October 10th. But what really has fellow movie enthusiasts buzzing is the extra surprise that’s coming our way before this much-anticipated debut!

Beginning October 1st, approximately a week before the release of the live-action “How to Train Your Dragon,” Peacock is planning to reintroduce the entire trilogy of original animated films into its collection. So, get ready as “How to Train Your Dragon” (2010), followed by “How to Train Your Dragon 2” and “How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World,” return to Peacock’s offerings!

At present, only the initial two movies of the animated trilogy can be streamed on Hulu. The third film, titled “The Hidden World“, is not accessible on any significant streaming platforms yet; it can only be viewed via on-demand services. Consequently, when October arrives, all three films will be available for streaming in the same place for the very first time.

Will How to Train Your Dragon Get a Live-Action Sequel?

As a passionate cinema enthusiast, I’m excitedly looking forward to the prospect that director Dean DeBlois might decide to expand his beloved animated Dragon stories into live-action films! With two more remakes lined up and the impressive box office performance of the initial live-action version, it seems inevitable that we’ll be treated to a sequel. The intriguing question now is whether this continuation offers an opportunity to delve into uncharted territories within these captivating stories.

independent of any sequel’s outcome, Deblois has voiced his desire for a cherished actor from the original movies to reprise their character in a live-action adaptation. At the film’s debut, Deblois shared with ComicBook that he aims to bring Cate Blanchett back to portray Valka, mirroring Gerard Butler’s transition from animation to live action as Stoick.

The director expressed optimism and indicated it’s still too soon. He suggested the actress might be holding out for a script, but he’s been trying to reach her. He specifically wrote the role of Valka with her in mind, so he informed her that she always has the option to decline first.

In simpler terms, Valka is an important character introduced in the second film of “How to Train Your Dragon”. It’s exciting for fans because Cate Blanchett and Ian Butler might get the chance to voice this character and Stoick (who are married in the story) together.
