EA Sports FC 26 has launched, and players who pre-ordered the Ultimate Edition and gained early access have found the transfer market temporarily unavailable when starting the game.
As a new player – or someone jumping in from another game – figuring out how to get new players is something you’ll need to do. It’s pretty straightforward, you just need to finish a few quick objectives first.

How to unlock the Ultimate Team transfer market
Okay, so if you’re just starting out with FC 26, getting access to the transfer market isn’t automatic. You’ll need to work through a series of objectives – they’re called ‘Venturing Out’ – to unlock it. It’s a pretty simple set of tasks, but you have to do them in order!
You can finish these goals if you’ve already opened up the transfer market, and you’ll get rewards for completing them.
Here are the objectives as they are now, but expect them to change in later seasons.
- Play 3 Rush Matches – Unlocks 1 Intro to Rewards Evo
- Complete the Foundations Evo – Unlocks 1 Gold Chemistry Style Consumable
- Score 10 Goals (Any Ultimate Team Mode) – Unlocks 200 Coins
- Play 5 Matches (Any Ultimate Team Mode) – Unlocks 1 Gold Pack
If I manage to finish all of these challenges, I’ll unlock Dael Fry, an 83 OVR Center Back for Middlesbrough. He’s a ‘Squad Foundations’ player, which is pretty cool!

EA has provided an official explanation, as follows:
Restricting new accounts from immediately using the Transfer Market safeguards the economy against rule violations and helps new players learn the game at a reasonable speed, according to a help page.
“It’s one more way we’re focusing on player trust and system integrity from day one.”
That’s the situation. EA has its own system, so if you want to trade players, you’ll need to do some initial work first. Time to get started!
