Over the past few years, Dan Trachtenberg has shown a remarkable ability to successfully revive and refresh existing film franchises.
Director Dan Trachtenberg, known for his work on 10 Cloverfield Lane, first explored the Predator universe with the critically acclaimed prequel, Prey, in 2022. He continued his involvement last year by directing two new installments in the franchise.
The Predator franchise expanded this year with multiple releases. First, an animated three-part story, Predator: Killer of Killers, debuted online. However, the main buzz came from Predator: Badlands, which premiered in theaters in November.
This movie, featuring Elle Fanning, marked a turning point for the series. It was the first time the story was told from the Predator’s perspective, making it the main character.
The story centers on Dek, an outcast of his kind (played by Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi through motion capture), who is exiled to a dangerous planet. There, he unexpectedly connects with a synthetic human (Fanning), and together they struggle to survive the planet’s treacherous landscape.
Similar to Prey, the movie received generally good reviews. It also hinted at a potential future crossover with the Alien series, which hasn’t happened in almost twenty years.
Wondering when you can watch the movie at home? Whether you didn’t get a chance to see it in theaters, or just want to enjoy it again, here’s what you need to know.

How to watch Predator: Badlands – is it streaming?

Good news for fans! You can now watch Predator: Badlands at home. Starting January 6th, the movie is available to rent or buy digitally from platforms like Prime Video, Sky Store, and Apple TV. It costs £15.99 to rent and £19.99 to buy.
If you choose to purchase the film, you’ll also get extra content like deleted scenes, making-of featurettes that show how the movie was created, and exclusive commentary from director Trachtenberg and other members of the creative team.
When is Predator: Badlands coming to Disney Plus?
Since the movie was made by 20th Century Studios, which is now part of Disney, Predator: Badlands will eventually be available to stream on Disney Plus along with all the other Predator films.
We don’t have an official release date for the film on the streaming platform yet, but we can estimate when it will arrive. Disney usually releases 20th Century Studios films on streaming about three months after they come out in theaters.
Considering this, the movie will likely be available on Disney Plus in February. If you subscribe to the service, it’s probably best to wait before buying it digitally, unless you really want to watch it right away.
We’ll update this page when we get more concrete information of an exact release date.
