Rachel Reeves is preparing to present the Autumn Budget, and there’s a lot of discussion about what financial changes she might make for the coming year.
I was really relieved to hear last week that the Chancellor won’t be raising income tax in the upcoming Budget. That’s good news for everyone, especially for those of us who love going to the movies – every little bit helps keep those ticket prices manageable!
In recent weeks, Reeves strongly suggested she planned to raise taxes. She explained in a speech before the budget announcement that everyone needs to contribute to a secure and prosperous future for the country.
However, instead of raising rates, Reeves could decide to freeze or lower income tax thresholds.
There’s also talk that the Chancellor is planning to make changes to taxes on property, pensions, and how much people can save with ISAs.
Curious about when Reeves will announce his plans and how to watch his speech? Here’s all the information you need.
When is the Budget?
The Budget is set for Wednesday 26th November, which is much later than last year’s October date.
The speech will occur after Prime Minister’s Questions, beginning at around 12:30pm.
It will last around an hour.
