Yungblud is keeping Ozzy Osbourne close to his heart.
Approximately one month following the passing of a Black Sabbath band member, the lead singer of “Abyss” disclosed that he honored the rock icon by choosing a special outfit for the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards held on September 7.
Right here, next to me, I’m gratefully sharing space with none other than my idol – Yungblud! You won’t believe it, but I’ve got his signature cross pinned proudly on me, declaring my eternal admiration for the one and only Ozzy Osbourne.
In this appearance, Ozzy, who’s known for sporting the cross necklace throughout his long career, showed it off boldly. As he stepped out without a shirt, only wearing a black leather jacket trimmed with fur and black leather pants, the accessory was clearly visible. He added to his style with black leather boots, silver wallet chains, an elaborate belt buckle, and several bracelets on one arm. (Check out all the celebrities arriving here.)
Apart from honoring him through his music group, Yungblud (also known as Dominic Harrison) will also perform at the VMAs together with Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, along with Nuno Bettencourt from Extreme, for a medley of Ozzy Osbourne’s top hits.
For Yungblud, it has been extremely challenging to cope with the demise of Black Sabbath’s legendary frontman, who passed away at age 76. He had previously announced that he would cover their song “Changes” at every concert.
Speaking with TopMob, he shared that losing a hero whom he had recently grown close to, discovering their friendship as fellow humans during the process, was incredibly tough. However, he intends to play this particular song every evening for the remainder of his life, preserving the memory and legacy of that special person.
The 28-year-old emphasized, “He was everything for me, and I love the family.”
Initially, Yungblud had pledged to perform Black Sabbath’s 1972 classic song, reminiscing alongside Ozzy Osbourne about their bodies, as a tribute after Ozzy passed away following a prolonged struggle with Parkinson’s Disease.
For as long as I can recall, you’ve been a guiding light for me – a beacon through childhood confusion, and later in life when others saw me as too extraordinary or peculiar. In July, this sentiment was expressed on Instagram. I vow with every fiber of my being to strive towards maintaining the spirit you embodied and the lessons you imparted. I am committed to ensuring that your legacy thrives.
