Hugh Jackman’s new movie musical, Song Sung Blue, quickly became the most-watched title on Peacock after its release.
Though Song Sung Blue only made $57 million in theaters (with a production cost of $30 million), it’s been a hit with both critics and viewers. It currently has a ‘Certified Fresh’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes with a 77% score, and an impressive 97% audience approval rating.
Since its release on Peacock on February 13th, Song Sung Blue has quickly become the most-streamed title in the United States. As of February 23, 2026, it’s currently number one on the NBCUniversal platform.
I was so surprised to see how many fun movies made the Top 10! Besides the big hits, I was really happy to see some of my favorites like The ‘Burbs and How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days included. And who knew The Super Mario Bros. Movie, The Boss Baby, Trolls, Ride Along, Ride Along 2, Law Abiding Citizen, and even Fifty Shades of Grey would all be so popular!
The movie is currently number one internationally in Ireland, and a top five hit in Australia and New Zealand. It’s also reached the top ten charts in Canada, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom.
The film Song Sung Blue tells the real-life story of Mike and Claire Sardina, a married couple who formed a tribute band dedicated to Neil Diamond. Their story was originally documented in a 2008 film of the same name.
Nearly twenty years after their story unfolded, director Craig Brewer—known for films like Hustle & Flow, Footloose, and Coming 2 America—released a movie based on Mike and Claire’s life on Christmas Day 2025. Hugh Jackman stars as Mike, and Kate Hudson, famous for Almost Famous, plays his wife, Claire.
The movie includes many popular Neil Diamond songs like “Sweet Caroline,” “I Am…I Said,” “I’ve Been This Way Before,” and “Song Sung Blue.” Hugh Jackman and Anne Hudson sing nearly all of them.
The cast of Song Sung Blue features Hugh Jackman, Kate Hudson, and a talented ensemble including Michael Imperioli, Ella Anderson, King Princess, Mustafa Shakir, Hudson Hensley, John Beckwith, Fisher Stevens, Jim Belushi, Jackie Cox, Cecelia Riddett, Sean Allan Krill, Beth Malone, and Jayson Warner Smith.
This award-winning musical drama has already received recognition at several film festivals. Notably, it earned honors at the Palm Springs International Film Festival, where actress Hudson received an Icon Award, and at the Savannah Film Festival, where director Brewer was recognized with a Spotlight Director Award.
Kate Hudson received Golden Globe and BAFTA nominations for Best Actress, but Rose Byrne and Jessie Buckley won those awards instead. She’s also up for Best Actress at the upcoming Actor Awards (previously known as the SAG Awards) on March 1st, and at the Oscars on March 15th.
While “Song Sung Blue” didn’t get a lot of award attention, I’ve seen so many people talking about how amazing Hudson is as Claire – everyone agrees she really shines in the movie!
With a 97% audience score, ‘Song Sung Blue’ is now Hugh Jackman’s highest-rated film, beating out ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ which previously held the top spot with 94%. Now available on Peacock, the movie is reaching even more viewers.
