Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Jack Quaid have quickly become a surprisingly great on-screen pair. Both actors are well-known for popular shows and movies like The Walking Dead, Supernatural, Star Trek: Lower Decks, and Scream. They first worked together in the 2018 film Rampage, and later both appeared in the Prime Video series The Boys. Most recently, they teamed up again for a new crime thriller that premiered on Hulu in December 2025.
I just finished watching Neighborhood Watch, which landed on Hulu on December 12th, and it’s a surprisingly engaging little mystery. The script, by Sean Farley, and direction by Duncan Skiles, centers around an odd couple: Dennis Quaid plays Simon, a man with a mental disability who thinks he’s seen a kidnapping, and Morgan plays Ed, his skeptical but ultimately helpful retired security guard neighbor. When the police dismiss Simon’s concerns, these two team up to find the missing woman. It’s a solid story with support from Cecile Cubiló, Jim Klock, and Malin Akerman, and definitely worth a watch if you’re looking for something a bit different.
Neighborhood Watch Is One of the Most Underrated Movies of 2025
Released quietly in April with limited showings and on streaming platforms, Neighborhood Watch is a hidden gem that deserves more attention. It’s a surprisingly moving, character-focused story that could easily become a favorite for viewers who find it while browsing streaming services.
Neighborhood Watch is a captivating mystery that pairs Dennis Quaid, playing a character with mental health challenges, with a curmudgeonly ex-security guard played by Morgan. Both actors give excellent performances, and their characters’ unlikely friendship adds both humor and emotional depth to the thriller. While not perfect, the movie is a fun and entertaining choice, especially for fans of Quaid and Morgan, and offers a satisfying emotional conclusion.
The movie received generally positive reviews and currently has a ‘Fresh’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics giving it a 70% score and audiences a 68% rating. Shawn Van Horn of Collider described it as both a deeply sad story and surprisingly uplifting, while Jennifer Renson from Culturess recommended it as a must-watch, even for those who don’t typically enjoy thrillers.
What’s New on Hulu?
Hulu is adding a lot of exciting new movies and shows this December! Over the past few weeks, the platform has been building up its library with must-see titles. December 1st saw a huge wave of new content, including popular movies like Black Swan, Full-Court Miracle, 17 Again, Straight Outta Compton, and several films from the Planet of the Apes series, plus the entire Home Alone collection. Throughout the month, even more movies were added, such as Inheritance, London Calling, and Strange Harvest. For TV fans, Hulu now features Season 2 of The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball and the second season of the Disney+ original Percy Jackson and the Olympians.
