The sixth and final season of *Solar Opposites* has arrived on Hulu, bringing Korvo, Terry, Yumyulack, and Jesse’s story to a close. The season ties up many loose ends, offering a satisfying conclusion to the animated series. Though fans will miss the show, the finale cleverly leaves a possibility for future installments, while still providing a fitting end for the alien family’s adventures on Earth.
If you haven’t watched the finale of *Solar Opposites* yet, be warned – spoilers ahead! The last episode centers around the Solar family narrowly escaping a massive attack by the “SilverCops,” the corrupt intergalactic police we first met earlier in the series. With help from Glen Kumstein, who’s transformed into his alien alter ego, Dodge Charger, the family manages to survive and defeat the SilverCops. The episode also gave viewers a glimpse into the future of each character.
The story begins with Jesse and Yumyulack heading off to college at Wooden City Tech, a place we’ve seen before. Meanwhile, Terry directs his first big movie and quickly becomes a demanding boss. Korvo embarks on a journey to various Schlorpian home worlds, trying to convince his people to embrace peaceful family life instead of constantly searching for new planets to conquer. The series ends on a funny note: the family is together as Korvo desperately chases the Pupa, who’s devouring their universe, begging it to leave something behind in case the show ever gets revived.
Solar Opposites’ Grand Finale
I recently had the chance to talk to Mike McMahan, the creator of *Solar Opposites*, and it was fascinating! He explained that while this season *is* the end of the story as we know it, the team doesn’t see it as a complete ending. He described it like finishing the first chapter of a larger story, and they really leaned into wrapping up some of the show’s biggest running gags and storylines – things like The Wall and the Silver Cops are all tied up nicely. It’s a great culmination of everything fans have loved!
Earlier this year, the animated series *Solar Opposites* unexpectedly moved from Hulu to Netflix, ending its exclusivity with the Disney-owned platform. Although nothing is confirmed yet, the show’s strong performance on Netflix could lead to a renewal. The creators are definitely eager to continue the show and explore more of its alien world.
