Hundreds of AC/DC fans brave the cold to line up for tickets to first Aussie tour in a decade – after ageing rockers were slammed for lacklustre gigs

A large number of dedicated AC/DC enthusiasts endured the chilly weather in Melbourne on a Thursday, eagerly striving to secure the prime locations for the legendary rock band’s performance at the MCG.

Rock fans were thrilled earlier this week as the Australian rock band revealed their plans to visit Australia this spring, marking their return after a decade-long absence.

In November and December, the legendary band that was established in 1973 plans to perform an exciting series of large-scale concerts in Australia.

People in Melbourne waited for several hours outside the Ticketek store, some conversed with each other or scrolled through their phones while anticipating the opening of the box office.

Initially, when ticket sales began, it was none other than Shane Merrett from Melbourne who snatched the very first ticket purchased.

On his day off, Shane arrived directly from work and stood patiently in line for 24 hours at the box office. This earned him the first spot as reported by AAP on Thursday.

With a black hoodie on and lounging comfortably in a camping chair, Shane spent his time idly. Later, he flaunted his AC/DC tattoo on his right arm boldly for the photographers.

Shane bought eight tickets to the MCG gig for his friends and family.

As a devoted adherent, I can attest that it was all worth the while. A significant portion of that time was endured in harsh, cold surroundings. To put it frankly, it was challenging.

Since his tenth birthday, Merrett confessed that he stood outside the box office for a total of “three days” in both 2010 and 2015, eagerly waiting for AC/DC’s Australian tours to begin.

After AC/DC switched on their fans with clips from their ongoing world tour that were recently shared on TikTok.

In this video, captured at a recent concert in Pasadena, U.S.A., the guitarist Angus Young, aged 70, is shown inciting the audience with cries of “Oi, Oi, Oi” while playing their popular song “High Voltage”.

Previously famous for his perpetually youthful appearance, the veteran blonde rocker, clad in a white shirt and velvet shorts reminiscent of school attire, barely resembled the energetic stage presence he’s renowned for.

And this had fans asking whether Angus and his band were now past their prime.

‘Time to retire’ posted more than one user on the thread, which has attracted 1294 comments.

Additionally, the video showcases Brian Johnson, the legendary AC/DC frontman at 77 years old, whose energy seemed somewhat subdued compared to his electrifying past performances on stage.

One fan mused, “It seems like this will be their final tour,” while another expressed their feelings more bluntly: “I’ve been an AC/DC fan all my life, but this is really disappointing.

Another devout fan responded with equal fervor, ‘They’re finished…Profiting from this? Incredulous! And I’m a huge AC/DC fan…Goodness gracious, boys!’

Despite that, the article garnered a significant response with 90.3K affectionate ‘likes’ and supportive comments from enthusiastic fans, who are eagerly supporting the renowned Australian band throughout their Pump Up World Tour.

One enthusiast declared, “I’ve caught an AC/DC performance six times since 1977 and I’d gladly return for more!” Another fan expressed pure excitement with a simple, “Fantastic!

A third fan commented on the status of the US leg of the tour.

1) ‘The stadiums are being filled by fans, and I don’t believe they’re bringing shame upon themselves. The crowd seems to be enjoying themselves immensely, with no signs of them slowing down.’

Known for their iconic status, the band that was established in 1973 is planning an exciting series of large-scale stadium performances in November and December.

Led by Brian Johnson and legendary guitarist Angus Young, AC/DC is set to perform in key cities such as Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Perth, and Brisbane.

On November 12, AC/DC will begin their Australian tour at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), and they’ll then move on to Sydney’s Accor Stadium on November 21.

Then, on November 30, they’ll perform at the BP Adelaide 500 Grand Finale, followed by a concert in Perth’s Optus Stadium on December 4.

On December 14th, they will conclude their Australian tour elegantly by performing a grand finale concert at Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium.
