Yoshihiro Togashi’s *Hunter x Hunter* is a hugely popular and critically acclaimed manga and anime series. It first appeared in *Weekly Shonen Jump* magazine in 1998 and quickly became known for its creative power system and detailed world. Unfortunately, due to health issues, Togashi has had to release new chapters inconsistently since 2006. The series frequently pauses for extended periods, allowing Togashi to prioritize his well-being without the pressure of strict deadlines. Despite these challenges, thanks to Togashi’s commitment and the publisher’s support, *Hunter x Hunter* continues to be created, and fans eagerly await future installments.
The *Hunter x Hunter* manga began a long story arc called the Succession Contest in chapter 340, which came out in 2012. Over thirteen years later, this arc is still continuing. After a break, new chapters started appearing again in October 2024, with ten chapters released over a few months until December. Although the manga went on another indefinite pause after chapter 410, the author, Togashi, kept fans updated on his progress. He recently became active on social media again, starting in August, and his latest posts are giving fans hope that the series will continue.

Yoshihiro Togashi recently posted new character art on his official X account, showcasing designs from the Succession Contest Arc. The latest illustration features Luzurus Hui Guo Rou, the seventh prince of the Kakin Empire. A translation of the Japanese text in the image was provided by translator @sandman_AP. Togashi also announced that he’s completed the dialogue for chapter 420, bringing the total completed to ten chapters, and plans to continue working on the manuscript.
Yoshihiro Togashi recently announced on October 6th that he’s finished designing the backgrounds for the next arc. Based on his posts on X (formerly Twitter), the upcoming chapters will likely consist of around ten chapters. While much of the work is complete, the exact release date will be announced once the manuscript is finalized. Thankfully, Togashi is regularly updating fans, suggesting the manga’s return won’t be too far off. Currently, the Succession Contest Arc is at a critical point; chapter 410 ended with a significant cliffhanger, as 40 minutes have passed since the declaration of martial law, giving the first prince, Benjamin, a strong advantage in the fight for succession.
Recently, updates about the manga *Hunter x Hunter* have focused on the next ten chapters. However, last December, the author, Togashi, revealed he was already outlining plans for the following 50 chapters. Volume 38 of the Japanese manga, containing chapters 391-400, was released on September 4th, 2024 – almost two years after Volume 37. The English version will be available starting January 6th, 2026, though these chapters are currently available digitally on the Manga Plus app.
