Malin Åkerman is a straight shooter when it comes to her hair.
The actress from “The Hunting Wives” acknowledged that her hairpiece in the Netflix show has sparked conversation among viewers, and, interestingly enough, it also created a few hiccups off-screen.
During an episode of the “Not Skinny But Not Fat” podcast on August 21, Malin shared that she had a custom wig made in L.A., which was specifically tailored to fit her head size.
However, as the character’s wife in the TV series, a 47-year-old actress found that the provided wig fitted well, yet it didn’t exactly match the discussed color and style we had anticipated.
Malin remembered the distressed wig vendor was in a state of panic,” she said. “She started rummaging through her collection of wigs and asked, ‘How about this one?’
Even though the wig didn’t quite fit her head yet, its color was just right according to their expectations and it had plenty of length. Given these factors, they considered it a possible backup option for their plan.
Since we didn’t have time to create a new one, we ultimately chose that wig,” she chuckled. “It came in a package.
In simpler terms, Malin – who has a 12-year-old son named Sebastian with her ex-husband Roberto Zincone – disclosed that they had attempted to have a suitable wig made by a professional, but when the new one arrived, it was a different color. Fortunately, they managed to incorporate the updated hairpiece into the show during a scene where her TV husband Dermot Mulroney announces his political campaign.
During Jed’s gubernatorial campaign, you might find me dressing up stylishly and wearing tin foil in my hair since the new wig is lighter. We were wondering how we could make this work, so we decided to act as if her hair had just been lightened.
Even though The Hunting Wives hasn’t been given a green light for another season just yet, Malin, who tied the knot with Jack Donnelly in 2018, is eager to ditch the wigs altogether if they are asked back for additional episodes.
After all, fans have had plenty to say about her hair since the show’s release.
Someone expressed concern about Malin Akerman’s wig while filming ‘The Hunting Wives.’ If the show is renewed for a second season, it was suggested that Malin should be given a more realistic-looking wig.” Another option could be: “It was noted by one person that Malin Akerman’s wig in ‘The Hunting Wives’ seemed unconvincing. If the series is continued, they hope that Malin will receive a better quality wig for future episodes.
However, someone pointed out, “Perhaps it’s fortunate that they dressed Margo in that dreadful wig and gave her a southern accent instead of her regular appearance and voice. I might not have been able to endure it if she looked and sounded like Malin does typically.
